Exporting A Car To Australia

I am thinking of taking a holiday though northern Thailand, Lao and Cambodia and back into Thailand. I have been to all these countries several times but this time I would like to do something different.

The basic plan is to buy an military jeep like a UAZ-469 or even better a GAZ-69 in Lao and drive it down through Lao and Cambodia seeing some sights that I haven't seen before. Towards the end I would drive into Thailand and use an exporter in Chon buri to send it back to OZ. Of course this may all be a flight of fantasy if the paperwork becomes to great.

So some questions I have :

1. Buying a car in Lao , is it possible for a falang,? I would need license papers for the importing process.

2. Crossing borders, I am sure there will be some grafting by at least the Khmer border officials

3. Anyone know of a reliable exporter in Chon Buri?

4. Am I better off avoiding Thailand exporting for a tax point of view? Or isn't it an issue as its a foreign car in the Thai point of view ?
