Do colourblind glasses and/or colourblind contact lens work?

Do colourblind glasses and/or colourblind contact lens work?

1 in 12 men are colourblind apparently, so that means quite a few of you reading this are colourblind.

I am red/green colourblind. Not really a problem: a minor problem sometimes watching football, buying clothes, seeing birds in trees - minor stuff.

I have no problem seeing red and green when driving. I do though have a major problem when it comes to passing the colourblindness test(s) in the Thai driving licence renewal. I have passed it twice but it is difficult and stressful (and the ladies doing the test were very kind to me).

I've therefore been thinking ahead to my next 5 year renewal and wondering if I bought and used colourblind glasses or colourblind contact lens for the test, would that work / be helpful (note that I have no interest in these glasses / lens other than for the test).

I note that Enchroma colourblind glasses are now available in four shops in Bangkok. I'm guessing they test your eyes, take your money and order from USA (or maybe they manufacture in Thailand under license). Enchroma also make colourblind safety glasses (maybe of interest to those in construction or engineering).

Has anyone tried / owns either colourblind glasses or colourblind contact lens?

If yes, what's your experience/opinion?

What's your colourblindness?

If the lens do work, I'd like to buy and try them out to see if they will help me.

Yep seen them on Lazada but looking for people with experience of using them to advise if they do what they expect of them. Hoping some one with experience will comment.

Google is good, but even Google couldn't work out the connection between:

"Do colourblind glasses and/or colourblind contact lens work?"

and

"Crickets".

Yes, they do work.

I saw this post last week and being colour blind myself, I thought why not give them a try.

I ordered a cheap pair of glasses off Shopee @ only Baht 180 (with shipping).

They arrived a couple of days later and I tested them with an online colour blind test.

I did not expect them to work but they made every one of the numbers very clear.

I was very impressed and glad that I purchased them.

Next license renewal is going to be so much easier.

Excellent news. I'll order some of those glasses and see how they work for my colourblindness. Cheers!

I bought my son a pair of these glasses too, but they don't work. There aren't any positive reviews for them either.

@ Bert got kinky I received mine today, used them to watch TV and Holy Smokes, the colors jump out atcha…….I googles Color Circle test and a bunch popped up - I have never gotten more than two in my whole life…………I was able to find all the numbers, words, pictures etc etc etc in the color circle with these on, take them off and very few are seen. I have always saw things differently than other people, I regularly color in adult coloring books, and my choices of colors have always been strange to other folks. It looks good to me - I am going to try & color with these on and see what changes. Thanks again for the tip. Peace

I ordered some from the link referred to by Bert got kinky post.

Tried them on in the garden and didn't notice any difference between them on or off.

Then did online colourblind test first with them off and then again with them on. Got exactly the same result = proton colourblind. They had no affect upon my vision at all.

The conclusion is either:

The pair I received don't work / have no affect, or,

They do work, but don't for me, or

They don't work and are a scam.

Back to the drawing board ☹️

Okay, this post scared the bejeezus out of me! Here are all you colourblind guys who can't tell red from green out there...driving!

Seriously, I wonder how colourblind glasses would affect the vision of a not-colourblind person.

Not being colourblind you have no understanding.

I have no problem telling the difference of the traffic light colours in Thailand, the UK and Australia where I drive/have driven, but ask me to do an Ishihara Test for colourblindness and I will fail.
