Suvarnabhumi Moves Up in Global Airport Rankings

Suvarnabhumi Moves Up in Global Airport Rankings

Suvarnabhumi Airport has climbed to 36th place in the 2026 World’s Best Airport rankings, improving from 39th last year. Airports of Thailand said the rise reflects continued upgrades in service, technology, cleanliness, safety and operational speed. Suvarnabhumi also placed fourth among airports handling 60 to 70 million passengers annually, marking another strong result for the hub. Don Mueang also improved, moving from eighth to seventh in the ranking for low-cost airline terminals. Thai airport authorities hailed the results as evidence that service improvements are starting to translate into stronger global recognition.

I can almost hear the Thai bashers snorting their derision. With THAI announcing fare increases a few hours earlier, their ship has truly come in today.

Wow, up a full Three PLACES. must be the upgrades in service, technology, cleanliness, safety and operational speed. As for Don Mueng, up A FULL PLACE.

Not filled it today....yet.

I was merely drawing attention to the very small movements in the airport popularity lists.

Don't need muppets like you to comment, thanks.

Or shall I report it as an off-topic personal insult?

The list, that you obviously haven't even looked at, indicates that most airports reported as having improved or otherwise over their 2025 performance, have made similarly incremental changes in their ranking. For your enlightenment, Riyadh is rocking this year, as is Astana International, but Aso Kumamoto Airport has properly kicked the doors in for 2026.

As for calling the cops, that's entirely up to you, muppet.

While you're at it report yourself for the personal insult calling the other poster a Muppet.

Touche.

Very rarely have I insulted or mocked another Member. Must have been because my glass was only half full as he suggested.

It was a lower case muppet I used, not a big M.

Next round is on me.

Cheers.

It's all very well for some twerp to bang on about some airport popularity contest with his Thai blinkers firmly attached in a 51-second video. However, what must surely be of greater interest to most normal people is how Thai airports currently stack up when compared to others worldwide. Although our video twerp has chosen not to reveal specific information regarding the particular airport popularity contest he has in mind, I'm assuming from the OP that it's this one:

The place needs a thorough cleaning.

I agree, this forum is getting cluttered with all sorts of nonsense and garbage.

Oh, wait...

Zzzzzzzz.

Suvarnabhumi is not bad. It's not amazing, it is not terrible, it's decent. And it is always improving so moving up three places is fair.

The ARL is cheap and good. The taxis used to be a nightmare, they have been good for a long time and well organised. Plenty of F&B options: cheap by international standards, not cheap by Thai standards.

Check in is usually quick these days, especially if you check in online and then use the kiosks. Outgoing security is very fast, used to be slow. Outgoing immigration is very fast with the e-gates, used to be very slow. Technology is fine - you can register for facial recognition and then no need to present passport and boarding pass after immigration.

Constant incremental improvements and they deserve credit.

It feels a bit grubby in places, especially the floor tiles and some of the toilets, but generally it is ok. The new satellite concourse is nice.

For a massive airport it is decent, much better than Heathrow for example - both incoming and outgoing. But I get it, some people just need to moan.

That’s an excellent response coming from someone with special needs. Now, please get on the short bus.

Pithy stuff there.

Not.

I think Swampy should be higher than that. I noticed that Vancouver airport was the only one from North America to make it into the top 25 (at number 10). Only a half-dozen or so U.S. airports in top 50 (Houston at 29th place was highest).

Actually, I could never understand why the most capitalistic country in the world had such unappealing airports for customers. Haven't flow through a U.S. airport in quite a few years though. I remember getting a hot dog and a weak draft beer at O'Hare airport. But even 15 years ago the shopping mall style terminals that are common place in many countries (like Asia and Europe) weren't common in American airports. Back then, you could get a beer, a bite to eat, and a shoe shine. But that's about all. Probably way better now..

I fly in and out of Suvarnabhumi about 6-8 times a year. The only real issue is immigration on arrivals. You never know how crowded it will be. Their queue system is a shambles and needs to be better organised. Last week (4pm Thursday), the queues for both 1 and 2 were down the ramps and well along the concourse by the travellators. There should be a a single narrow point of entry so that there is no queue jumping. There were many people walking as far to the front as possible and pushing into line. I witnessed a few cross words between an English lady and a non-English man. In all I waited 50 minutes to get stamped in. There are times when I've arrived and been the sole passenger at immigration (at least until others caught up). Overall I have no issues with Suvarnabhumi.

Last bit should have read "no other issues with Suvarnabhumi"

Should it not be outgoing Emigration?
