Chiang Mai Expands Emergency Response as Fires Spread

Chiang Mai has declared parts of Samoeng and Hot districts as wildfire disaster zones as forest fires and haze continue to worsen. The designation allows officials to speed up relief, assess damage more quickly, and begin recovery measures for affected communities. In Samoeng, four sub-districts were included in the emergency area after fires spread through surrounding woodland. In Hot district, six sub-districts were placed under the same status as authorities reported damage to homes, livelihoods, and local environments. The move reflects growing concern over the scale of the crisis in the north and the need for a faster government response.
