Nuclear threats as Israel-Iran war pushes the world to the brink

Fresh warnings of nuclear escalation have jolted an already volatile Middle East crisis, after commentators claimed China and Pakistan signalled they would respond if Israel used nuclear weapons against Iran.

The explosive claims surfaced amid a fragile ceasefire negotiated between United States and Iran, brokered in part by Islamabad. With tensions still raw, analysts warn the rhetoric alone shows how close the confrontation has drifted toward catastrophic escalation.

Television Debate Ignites Nuclear Fears

The alarm followed a startling moment on Israeli television.

During a panel on Channel 14, journalist Shimon Riklin raised the prospect of deploying a neutron bomb against Iran. The weapon, he argued, could kill people while leaving buildings largely intact.

Seated beside him was Israel’s national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who laughed and allowed the discussion to continue, saying only that his responsibilities as a cabinet member were “immense”.

Commentator Warns of Global Flashpoint

The remarks quickly reverberated internationally.

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, political commentator Cenk Uygur, co-founder of The Young Turks, warned that nuclear threats were now being openly discussed by major powers.

Uygur claimed that China and Pakistan had privately signalled they would retaliate against Israel if nuclear weapons were used against Iran. Such a scenario, he warned, would place the world “on the precipice of a nuclear holocaust”.

Ceasefire Reached at the Last Minute

The nuclear rhetoric came just hours after diplomacy narrowly averted further escalation.

A two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran was agreed shortly before a deadline set by Donald Trump for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane for global oil supplies.

The truce followed urgent appeals from Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s prime minister, who asked Washington to delay planned strikes and give diplomacy time to work.

Region Still on Edge

Trump confirmed the pause after talks with Sharif and Pakistan’s military chief Asim Munir, saying planned attacks would be suspended if Iran allowed the safe reopening of the strait.

For now, the ceasefire has halted the immediate crisis.

But with nuclear rhetoric surfacing and multiple fronts of conflict still active across the region, the strategic pressure surrounding the Middle East has rarely looked more dangerous.

China and Pakistan 'threaten nuclear strikes on Israel' as world 'on the brink'

" Ah, a ceasefire gives us time to think about world destruction!" Neutron bombs were all the rage decades ago. Was one ever built? Ever tested?

Kills everybody but saves the BMWs.
