Money in the bank / seasoning period for parent Thai child extension

Featured Replies

Got my yearly "parent of a Thai child" extension coming up in several months. Been doing it for nearly 10 years and always been a 400k in the bank, 2 month seasoning period before applying, even though I believe officially no seasoning period is required for a child extension apart from having the money in the bank the day of application. Anyway, is what it is...govt offices here seem to make up their own rules. I got my Mrs to call the other day and make sure nothing has changed and the person she spoke to actually told her only one month money in the bank is required, though Mrs says she didn't sound confident. My IO is Khon Kaen. Has there been any changes or anyone done a parent visa at KK office recently?

There really is nothing written in the rules that say an extension based on supporting a Thai child requires the 400k to be seasoned at all, the only thing it says is it has to be in your account on the day you apply.

It's the individual immigration offices that are making the seasoning requirement be the same as having a Thai wife, 2 months before you apply for the extension.

If you've been seasoning the funds for 2 months each time and you've been doing it for 10 years I would continue to follow that rule and take the information your significant thai other got from the immigration officer with a grain of salt.

Seasoning not required but why change from acceptable M.O

You mention... "My Mrs.. " are you married to child's mother?
