No doubt he will try.

Presumably the margin matters as its easier to steal a closer election.

Vance gave him tips on how to steal an election.

When we grew up, the U.S. was the central power in the Western world, so Europeans naturally learned far more about America than Americans ever needed to learn about smaller countries like Hungary.

That is why the sudden MAGA fascination with Orbán feels so artificial. It does not look like a genuine discovery of Hungary, its history, or its people. It looks like Orbán became useful once Trump and Vance needed a European example of illiberal politics they could admire: a leader hostile to migration, hostile to liberal institutions, hostile to Brussels, and willing to centralize power in the name of sovereignty.

The deeper reason the EU is now treated as the enemy is that Brussels represents exactly the kind of constraint Trumpism resents at home: courts, rules, shared standards, and limits on executive will. Orbán, meanwhile, is useful not because Hungary is especially important, but because he is a disruptive ally inside the EU and, at the same time, one of Putin’s most useful friends in Europe.

That is why this is happening now. Orbán is less a country lesson than a political instrument.

Boots on the ground now in Budapest. In the neighborhood I'm staying in I haven't seen any Orban or Magyar posters. But I've seen about 15 defaced or torn down Kovács Balázs Norbert posters. I don't know how or where they vote tomorrow but I'll report back to you immediately if I witness any irregularities.

I've been there myself.

Very surprised you're not seeing campaign stuff everywhere..

If it's your first time suggest a visit to tbe beautiful old synagogue in Pest and tbe famous baths in Buda.

After the strong support by Trump and Vance, I assume that if Orban loses, it will be considred as a personal failure for them! 😄

I wouldn't be surprised if they'd claim the election was rigged! 😄

Eh eh!

The good news is that Orban lost. 😅

The very good news, if confirmed, is that Magyar has a 2/3 majority. It means that he can erase all corrupt laws made by Orban!

Here’s a good example of how people are rejecting these attempts at perverting democracy by trying to change them into kleptocracy’s.Im delighted with the results and pleasantly surprised that orban is conceding!!curious as to Putin’s reaction.the handwriting is on the wall here in the usa as well I’m thinking trumpisum is going the way of McCarthyism with the exception of trump doing a lot more damage.

Even more reason to pull out of Nato

Orban lost, which was a major omelet on the face of Vance and Trump, and the people are taking out the trash. Good on them. Great result. Trump's prospects continue to dim. Bye bye Don.

Trump is near the end of his horrific reign of destruction. The midterms will make this pig doubly impotent. Hopefully he will be impeached and somehow Vance will be removed, and Tiny Pete will be tried for war crimes. The end of near for Disaster Don. The horizon is suddenly less bleak for the world. And his replacement will NOT be Harris. Thankfully.

As it's now over, it's interesting to note that only 9 percent on this poll predicted the correct outcome that Magyar would win cleanly.

The majority predicted as I did that he would win but that there would be trouble

I think the numbers were so overwhelming that rigging the results would have been futile.

I know this is the prevailing view (Midterms will cripple Trump). I hope so too, but I'm less optimistic. To really get rid of Trump there would need to be a huge upset in Congress (from Republican to Democrat) - Congress is designed that way to make it very difficult for the legislative branch to oust a duly elected President (head of state). That's the first point. The second is that Trump, by and large, has the Supreme Court backing him on all but the most ridiculous excesses. So IMO (could be wrong) the Midterms are a great opportunity for impeachment with the right numbers, but that's not enough to give him the bum's rush.

Three Presidents have been impeached - including most recently Bill Clinton and Tump himself (twice in his first term). The Senate has always voted against any further action (like removal), and even if it did try (with a Democrat majority after the Midterms) such a move would get tied up in legal limbo until the Supreme Court actually got around to ruling. By then the next election could already be held.

First of all, Magyar is a "conservative". He will not overthrow all of Orban's policies.

Secondly: The new government consits of a wide array of political believers, ranging from liberals to conservatives. To get rid of Orban was the only goal that united them.

Now, there is the danger that those differing political views will turn the Hungarian parlament into an endless "debating-club". Making true "reforms" hard to implement. Good luck and best of wishes.

Most languages can be traced to some "root-language". (Indo/German etc etc).

Correct me if I am wrong: Up to this day, linguists have no idea "where the Hungarian language comes from". They looked as far back as Mongolian Djingis Khan. No correlation.

I am hesitant to post this, because it will support the view of some, that the Hungarians were visited by "alians" long before recorded history. 😊
