Who Really Butters Thailands Bread

Featured Replies

Who’s actually driving Thailand’s tourism economy these days?

Is it the large groups of Poopjeets traveling together looking to molest the next innocent LadyBoi w/o any financial compensation

Or the Malik crowd who pray to Allah and then engage in crime as if they were back in the <deleted> hole they escaped from to refuge in glorious France

Or the old-school regulars from Germany and Scandinavia who keep a low profile but spend steadily over time drinking their Mont Clare boxed wine and large bottles of Chang

No real surprises, except the declining numbers from CN. Next door popping up for a visit, just too convenient.

Guys from Malaysia come up to Sadao and Hat Yai for the gentlemanly entertainment, I would suspect the punters only spend one or two nights in LOS. Sort of like the lads in the SW US who cross into the Mexican border towns to woop it up. There are lads from Singapore that pile into cars and drive up, I guess they don't arrive in the millions.

Nah. Cheaper for them to get on a ferry to Batam.

Hmm? Although maybe it is like the difference between the BTS and a taxi? If there are four in the car ?🤔

I doubt that very much, 4.5+M, surely many are non sex tourist, and many are probably counted numerous times, as back & forth for work or business. Was at Betong, and surprised there was very little nightlife.

It's simple proximity, same as Yanks going to CA & MX.

Surely some border towns get some, but Malaysian has plenty of nightlife of their own ..

Certainly, most of the visitors to Hat Yai are weekend tourists here as families and friends for the food and the shopping, sure there are those that come for the nightlife but they are outnumbered by family groups. Sadao and Golok are the two border towns whose primary attraction is adult entertainment.

I'm sensing some confession by projection here. Just because so many posters here are mongers doesn't mean most tourists are.

The times I spent in Hat Yai and Songkhla, most of the Malaysians that crossed the border were families, shopping and eating.

I used to cross over into Mexico a few times a year for bass fishing (Hauling our boats to Lake Guererro), shopping, the food, and to restock my medicine cabinet without paying an arm and a leg to visit a quack shack. Never even considered taking the hookers up on their offer, and definitely stayed off the streets after dark...

That was a new one on me, had to go to urban dictionary to find out.

Poojeet is alternative term for pajeet. Poojeet refers to Indian Hindu street shïtters. Its unhygienic practice of Indian, a form of Internet slang

Racist and classist at the same time. Keep in mind the homeless cannot afford international flights.
