Seems to be a lot of hooligans

One thing that has kept me away from Phuket is the hooligan element

This was demonstrated by the young farangs who attacked the van taxi driver

I have written to the Phuket tourism board with the help of my local member of parliament to ask what measures they will be taking with safety next year during Songkran,

This is why older farangs go to Pattaya instead of Phuket because of the young louts and hooligans have given up Bali and now going to Phuket because the police presence is not available

One wonders how the Thai night club security have to deal with these young louts

Pattaya seems a paradise compared to Phuket

I was surprised to hear of a Phuket gym owner who says he has to ban at least two people a month from his gym who are young tourists who cause trouble inside his gym

Terrible place this Phuket , it's out of control

Agreed, low class louts and a haven for foreign organised criminals. Probably pay Interpol to have a permanent office in Phuket.

Well golly gosh gee whiz old mate says it's where the Benidorm crew have gone after ditching Benidorm

Here's a video comparing Songkran in Thailand in the 1950s and Songkran in Phuket this year. Something has really changed in society.

Phuket and Pattaya are both as bad as each other for low standard Tourists

Causing problems

That's why the quality family tourists stay away and go to the islands around Thailand or visit other countries

I already mentioned in another post yesterday that I’m glad I no longer live there, and this is confirmed time and again

If you want a nice quiet Song Kran next year, come to Hua Hin. The celebrations seem to be orderly and controlled. You can walk around comfortably.

It is sad to read this forum and hear of so much violence and bad vibes in general about Pattaya and Phuket.

Now you know why the Spanish kicked them off their party islands....

Those mongrels have discovered Thailand and it will only get worse.

It won't be long now before some of these young farang hooligans are killed by Thai bouncers

As the Thai police don't seem to care things will only get out of hand

Mark my words ,there will be a lot more violence this year in Phuket and that will not only be between thais and drunken farang louts but between farangs as they meet up in a drunken state

Aussie louts and French louts etc fighting

Both forms of celebration are equally valid.

You don't like one, you can always find the other. Or stay at home. Or go back home.

Personally I love Thailand and have done since my first extended trip over 20-odd years ago.

Do you have any academic statistics to back your thesis?

Songkran living in the rice-fields and mountain valleys of rural Northeast Lamphun. Priceless!

Sing to the tune of Green Acres:

Verse 1 (Husband/Farmer):
Thai rice-fields are the place to be
Rice farmin' is the life for me
Paddies spreadin' out so green and wide
Keep Bangkok, just give me that countryside

Verse 2 (Wife/City Girl):
Bangkok is where I'd rather stay
I get allergic to the mud and hay
I just adore a condo with a pool
Darling I love you, but give me Sukhumvit Avenue

Together (back and forth):
The chores!
The stores!
Fresh air!
Night markets!

Farmer:
The heat, the rain, the buffalo's call
The simple life is best of all
Wife:
The heat! The rain! The mosquitoes bite!
I want my BTS and city lights!

Both:
Thai fields is the place to be
Rice farming is the life for me
Land spreadin' out so far and wide
Keep the traffic jams, just give me that countryside

Gotta take the rough with the smooth as the bar-girl said scratching off her scabs.

mostly in the bars

watch out for the bar scene

never get wasted in a bar

Was in Rayong on the beach going to Ban Pei was 2 days of a great festival many young people but no fighting

of course drenched but so many people offering food drink really a go for next year

paid some to people for water but that's how it is no cheap charley actions at this Festival .
