Patong Police Detain Tourists Accused of Targeting Officers With Water Guns

Police in Patong arrested a group of foreign tourists after videos showed them spraying officers on duty with high-pressure water guns during Songkran celebrations. The footage, which emerged on April 14, showed officers at a coordination tent being repeatedly targeted by dozens of revellers while trying to carry out their duties. Another clip filmed from inside a vehicle appeared to show the same group surrounding police and continuing the attack from close range. Officers later pursued and detained those involved, with police saying the conduct went beyond normal festive behaviour and created a risk of injury. The incident has added to concerns about crowd control and discipline in major holiday hotspots as authorities try to keep celebrations from tipping into disorder.
