Inflammation Pain

Featured Replies

BACKGROUND

Just replaced broken rods and 1 replace/upgraded disc in my lumbar.

Usually pain meds and antiinflammation meds kept pain down but not this time.

Not this time.

3 days of no pain relief and no sleep saw me back in hospital to try and manage my pain.

Neuro. surgeon put me on a 3 day course of strong steroids, that were MAGIC!!

First pill did the trick but then the 3 day course had me back smiling and exercising.

The tablets are named: Dexmethsone 4mg twice a day.

If you read the info. on these tablets you would never take them, but, for me they were great.

Good to hear that dexamethasone is working for you.

I have taken the same steroid, together with other drugs as part of immunotherapy cancer treatment.

My dose was 20mg on treatment days, with 3 or 4 days between treatment.

I found that that the steroid gave me lots of positive energy for a day or two, then low energy for day or two, with overall sleep issues.

I was not a fan, and I did not have pain issues before or after.

Seems like most have issues with this steroid because of energy swings and associated trouble sleeping.

Yes I would agree about the sleeping, but getting the pain under control so I can continue my rehab is my main aim.

You ever thought that might be because you didn´t take it every day, and just a high dose 1 day and after felt good one day more, before the pill went off, and had to wait 1-2 days for a new kick in?

Of course, but I was not taking to feel good.

Dexamethasone is a very potent steroid that can have serious adverse effects.

In my case, it taken in combination with other drugs on just 2 days in a given week, for several weeks.

Fortunately, it was not recommended or permitted to take it daily.

A year ago, I suddenly developed great arthritic pain in my hands. Many ordinary every-day actions became off-limits for me.

I finally consulted a GP whose expertise lay in medical marijuana. I began a course of CBD (the non-"high"-producing element in weed) and almost immediately my inflammation disappeared.

Who knows? And arthritic pain is obvs a long way from cancer pain, but I wonder if anyone on this thread has had similarly effective results from medical marijuana?

Everyone with common sense knew, and why all were so pissed off it took so long for big pharma & medical, all about profit industry to accept common sense, inexpensive, safer, pain management options.

They had to figure out a way to over regulate, control it, and charge big bucks for what basically grows as a weed worldwide. Go figure 🙄

I have arthritis in my thumb joint. It was getting painful to even open a bottle. The PA gave a cortisone shot which worked wonders.

Mentioned this a few times......I developed trochanteric bursitis in my left hip, too much dog walking.

Pain was excruciating......daughter said try one of these.....500mg of Naproxen .........boom, pain was gone in hours.

So the busitis was caused by too much walking the dog was that because the dog kept urinating on your leg as you were on your walk ??
