Non Imm 'o'

Recommended Posts

My dad has a trip booked for 114 days this winter. Last year he had no problem getting a Non Immigrant O for three months or so, but this year he is worried that the slightly extra duration might cause problems.

Should he;

1, get the O visa and use it then go on a visa run for the extra 24 days?

2, come in on a 30 day stamp and do a visa run for the O visa and get 90 more?

3. try something different?

Cheers all.

I would get the "O" visa first and use it and then just do a visa run for the last 30 days. You may be able to extend it inside of Thailand but I am not certain about what it would require and for how long; but I am certain that someone with more experience will be along shortly to tell you more about that...

Worst case senerio, you have to do a visa run and just get the 30 day stamp. He will be getting ready to leave in less than thirty days so he should already have his plane ticket, so no problems on that front.

If you do the 30 day stamp first and then do the visa run for an "O" it still may work out fine but I think you and he both will be worrying about it until he finally has that visa in his passport, so I say just for peace of mind if nothing else get the "O" first.

How about a double entry tourist Visa. That will get him 120 days with one visa run in the middle.

Or a single entry Tourist Visa (60 days) Extend at immigration for a further 30 days then do a visa run for another 30 days.
