Vietnam's Civil Aviation Authority has announced an increase in the number of available flight slots at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. This decision aims to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the national reunification and Labor Day holidays from April 30 to May 3. The changes, effective from April 25 to May 5, will allow 46 flights per hour during peak daytime hours, up from the current 44.

This adjustment comes in response to rising passenger demand and is intended to improve airport operations. By evaluating the actual airport capacity and optimizing the flight schedules, authorities aim to enhance flexibility and efficiency. Another goal is to minimize fuel consumption, which has been affected by supply constraints due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Ensuring flight safety and stable airport operations during peak holiday periods remains a priority.

Experts anticipate that the increase in flight slots will ease congestion and reduce flight delays. The Civil Aviation Authority emphasizes the importance of prioritizing key routes and reducing airborne holding patterns to ensure smoother travel experiences for passengers. The initiative is expected to contribute to cost savings for airlines by optimizing peak-hour operations.

Looking ahead, the airport is preparing for further improvements to handle growing demand in the future. Continued assessments of capacity and potential expansions are being considered to meet long-term passenger needs and enhance the overall efficiency of airport operations.
