Artists you wished you'd seen live...

Featured Replies

This morning Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues" popped up in my YT feed and it made me realise that I'll never have the privilege of watching him live... (Yes I know this is a "Live" video but it's not the same"

So I'm thinking of other artists I'll never get to see Live like Prince (Longtime ago my GF bought us tickets for an amazing concert in London, turned out to be Michael Jacksons opening for his "Bad" tour" & not the Prince concert I wanted to go to).

Oh & Elvis but in my defence I was only 11 when he died (Loved Elvis as a Kid).

How about you, any Artists that you wish you got to see before they passed?

I got to see Pink Floyd in 1988 and 1994, I think it was, but I wish I had seen Led Zeppelin back in their more experimental days. I have also missed Loso a few times in Thailand, and Bruno Mars too.

I went to see Miles Davis in concert but he didn't show up! LOL

He was on the same program with Herbie Hancock, who covered for him by doing a set of classical music on a grand piano, stuff you usually don't see him performing, but he went to Julliard so of course he knows classical music. It was great, but I still would have preferred to see Miles.

Pearl Jam

Buddy Guy

Albert Collins

Luther Allison

Would have loved to see him also, as he's a favorite guitarist.

Saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but with Johnny Van Zant and not Ronnie.

Saw Pink Floyd with Gilmour singing and would have liked to see them with Waters.

Never saw Neal Casal play live and he took his life before i had a chance.

Never saw Queen, Led Zeppelin, or Bad Company with Paul Rodgers but Brian Howe.

Saw the Allman Brothers a few times but after Duane passed.

Never saw the Moody Blues although they're a favorite.

Hendrix was around when I was young but missed my chance, as was Morrison.

Saw OZZY with Black Sabbath but would have liked to see them with Dio.

Would have liked to see the Rossington Collins Band, or Allen Collins Band. Many more that I loved but never got around to seeing play live.

My mom.... still a cool chick in her early 40s literally begged me to see Jerry Lee Lewis in Belgrade I think it was 1990 or 1989. We had this very modern commie monstrosity called Sava Centar attached to Inter Continental at the time. I refused to go. Nevertheless, she bought tickets for me and my best friend at the time and we both went.

I don't remember it being very memorable to be honest. If I din't go I would probably be whining now that I regret it.

That's not the end. A year later she bought me tickets for BB King, so again I paid my obligatory attendance showing up purely out of sense of obligation. Still not impressed.

Lewis was an innovator, playing piano unlike most others and he blended styles, which made him different then, and popular, especially with the teen crowd. BB King was a good blues guitarist with heartfelt lyrics people could relate to. He didn't need to play flashy but emotional. He influenced many modern players later who played blues and rock together. He also toured endlessly, finding new fans all over. Ray Charles was also one of these types, blending styles and opening up a new way to listen to the traditional.

Jimi, and The Faces.
