Relief For Chronic Sinus

Featured Replies

As I've got older I've developed chronic sinus. I've been to several doctors in Bangkok and Pattaya without any success. So can anyone recommend the best over the counter sinus medication in Pattaya.

I would suggest seeing Dr. Nucharut Pruksaboonkosol, ENT Center Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. I had a sinus infection for years and attributed to constantly being around young students (aka germ factories). The good doctor fixed me right up.

She had be taking prednisolone for a short while, and this is one of those medications you can't just pick up at a pharmacy. Now I also do nasal irrigation twice daily with salt water (you can find the correct salt at any pharmacy or online/Lazada) and have been doing Dymista spray (an antihistamine) after the irrigation. I'll discontinue the Dymista after the 2nd bottle is gone but will continue with the irrigation. If you decide to try the irrigation, do NOT get a "Navage" irrigation system. Good concept, bad people get you trapped into having to purchase their VERY expensive salt filters. I bought a similar system that accepts the correct salt, but have found using the extremely inexpensive hand held plastic bottle with the nasal sprayer works better than the Navage imitation.

I can't remember the last time my sinuses were this happy.

Prednisolone can be bought over the counter. I have it here now, purchased at Fascino

Maybe want to share the source?

They sold it to me at the hospital. It looks similar to this:

That is the cheap solution. Thanks will see if can find online.

Which is the correct salt to use, and is that available online?

I'd try this first. I bought the simplest sort of USB heat mask on Shopee. Use it at the highest setting when I first wake up, then go back to sleep and reset it periodically.

I'm using this for eyes, not sinus but there are plenty of sinus-specific ones.

Are you talking about drying or draining? I think the heat mask helps with both.

Certainly beats chemicals or docs which are unlikely to give you relief.

I found Nasonex very effective: active ingredient is mometasone furoate (a corticosteroid).
It works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages.

I use high dose NAC (2000mg) which liquifies the mucus to help it to flow/drain. I use the Nutricost brand (bulk) mixed with water. This has pretty much eliminated my need for sinus rinses.

On the now rare occasion that I do a sinus rinse, I add a small amount of NAC (200mg) to the standard sinus saline mix along with with 2-3 drops of 70% carvacol oil of oregano. Careful….it burns.

High grade manuka honey (UMF 20+) also helps in a sinus rinse but is too damn expensive.

Don’t eat anything that makes your mucus thick.

I have used Xlear Rescue Nasal Spray which is available on iHerb. I have found it to be very, very effective.

This is what I use (and the most dominant search return). If you do this 2x daily, two boxes will last you 30 days.

That's the one I have. It works great. But I have to resist the temptation to leave the saline in for a few days because it's so big. It does go bad...

I also took to using sea salt when I couldn't find pharmaceutical grade salt. I figure (right or wrong) that sea salt is what we evolved with over millions of years. I'm having good luck with it here in China where it's cottonwood season right now.
