The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles has confirmed that several Filipino seafarers were detained and deported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in San Diego. This development highlights the ongoing operations by CBP targeting individuals linked to child sexual exploitation material (CSEM). The seafarers, part of cruise ship crews, have been sent back to the Philippines, where they can seek assistance from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

CBP conducted operations aboard eight cruise ships between April 23 and 27, investigating suspected involvement with CSEM. According to CBP, federal agents interviewed 28 crew members, including 26 Filipinos, confirming that 27 were implicated in the crimes. The Philippine Consulate, while unable to intervene in the U.S. legal process, has ensured the provision of welfare checks and the notification of family members.

The consulate clarified that it communicated information to the DMW via the Migrant Workers Office in Los Angeles. It noted the authority of CBP in these matters, acknowledging that consular access does not influence U.S. authorities' decisions. The DMW is prepared to support the deported seafarers upon their return to the Philippines.

I guess these guys were looking at and disseminating child porn, so yea, get them outta here.

How far has America fallen that I start to think the CSEM part of this is made up?

If they had proof they were doing that, they would almost certainly be on their way to jail somewhere, not merely getting sent back to the Philippines.
