Thailand Tightens Hantavirus Checks for South American Arrivals

Thailand’s Department of Disease Control has increased screening for travellers arriving from 13 South American countries as part of Hantavirus surveillance measures. Officials said no cases have been detected in Thailand, but the checks are intended to strengthen public confidence and support safe travel. Travellers who visited the listed countries within the past six weeks must report to disease control officers before immigration and complete a T.8 health declaration. Anyone showing fever, body aches, fatigue, stomach symptoms, breathing issues, or other risk signs may be referred for diagnosis and isolation procedures. Since May 9, authorities have screened 470 travellers from South America, with no suspected cases found so far.
