Repatha (evolocumab) Availability.

Featured Replies

My cardiologist wants my LDL below 50 and he suggests Repatha fortnightly injections. Ive priced them at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and price is around 20,000 baht per pen.

Is anyone else on Repatha and getting it at a price well under that?

LDL below 50? Obviously, your cardiologist knows about these things a millions times better than I do, but that numbers seems awfully low and has to be verging on hypolipidemia.

For secondary prevention they want it under 50.

The price sounds about right.

While I can't comment on this itself, you might want to check out the availability and pricing in neighboring counties. I was able to find Soligar vitamins in Malaysia, used to turn visa runs into shopping trips; sometimes these can be a refreshing break from LOS.

Not recommending you try the countries to the west of LOS, maybe Malaysia and Singapore would be a good start.

I'm seeing 14-16k per dose. I'd pick a public hospital, of course.

India is a bit cheaper 5.5k/dose. Trouble is, even if you could get it shipped, it has to be cold chain refrigerated.

Two doses a month, yikes! How long does your cardiologist expect before you get below 50 LDL?

Not sure, but at present is 89 on 60mg statin and 10mg ezetimibe. Heart is doing ok, my lipoprotein(a) is 89, my calcium score 1300+

Moved to Health forum.

A calcium score of 1300+ is extremely high and would explain the targeted LDL of 50.

Repatha is a fairlyv new drug and there are no generic

alternatives. It will be costly whetever you go but Pattaya Memorial Hospital and PIH are usually less than BPH (provided they have it). Best option in terms of cost wouldvbe a government hospital but I am not sure any near you would have it.

Can govt hospitals not order newer, novel meds? They will not, of course, appear on the List of Essential Medications.

You can find drug prices on the MOPH website and if you google the drugs (generic) name plus “ราคา” (price in Thai language) you will sometime be able to find the prices at government hospitals as the MOPH price (฿5000 for the injection you mentioned as can be seen in the following link)

https://dmsic.moph.go.th/index/detail/9745

Might even check at one of the pharmacies near Chulalongkorn in Bangkok that seem to carry just about everything. No idea what kind of doctors prescription you might need.

A google search shows this for the search….

They can, but would have no reason to unless they had a reasonapble number of pstients in need if, and willing & able to pay for , it
