Online tech seller information

Featured Replies

Has anyone any experience purchasing items from tradeinn.com and their techinn technology store?

https://www.tradeinn.com/techinn/en

They have a tablet that I cannot find on the Thai market with 6-days delivery.

Has the Thai import tax changed for IT tech? I recall it was exempt but more recently I believe they are applying tax (VAT?) to all overseas online purchases.

Thanks,

NL

I bought something from them a few years ago, they won't tell you the import duty you'll pay, then one day DHL will be in touch demanding 30%, good luck. I won't use them again

30% is quite common; on the landed value which includes the freight. Then 7% VAT on that total.

Safest to assume 30% . Then suck up the rest.

Both DHL and UPS, I believe, are approved customs duty collectors so guess what.

Thanks, but wasn't 'a few years ago' under the old system where IT and tech was a gray area wrt import tax?

For example, I have recently bought tech through amazon.co.uk and their estimated tax calculation was reasonable and certainly not 30% or else I wouldn't have ordered. Items delivered in person by the local DHL office lady in 5 days and a few days later, a small refund on their import tax estimate overcharge.
