800k requirement in Thai Bank

Featured Replies

I asked this on a FB expats group where you'd think you get an answer lol

I got none or least none that made the slightest sense

As regards the 800,000 Baht in Thai account for retirement purposes (which I have built up over time) is that acceptable for immigration or do you need to transfer in a new fresh tranche of cash completely from overseas ??

Fresh money not required

Possibly not. Its always been via Wise. Never hard cash deposited in country per se though

I can always transfer in a further 800k and use the existing monies for ongoing costs though. I'd rather not do it that way though

Are you asking about applying for a Non-O VISA, or an EXTENSION? That's what makes all the difference.

If you are trying to convert from a tourist entry to a 90-day non-O visa, that requires proof of internationally transferred funds into your Thai bank account.

If you are applying for an annual extension based on retirement, that simply requires proof of funds, and no requirement regarding the source.

Did you select the reason as long term stay? Assuming you’re inquiring about applying for a non-o based on retirement?

No I was asking about an initial application not an extension

I think I will transfer in 800k new using appropriate method to prove it was internationally transferred

Its not a problem for me per se

As above answer

As Brandon said.

OP... Not clear if you are asking about obtaining a Non O (retirement) OR Extensions.

A Non O is a Visa that provides a 90 day stamp.

A 12 month extension is extension of permission of stay.

Extensions do not require that the funds are from abroad.

Non O obtained outside of Thailand the 800k does not need to be international transfer.

A Non O can also be obtained in Thailand from visa exempt or tourist visa entry.

In that case the funds need be be shown as international transfer..

Note: for Non O obtained inside Thailand if the money in bank has been there for "some time" then immigration may not require proof of origin of funds

Sorry, if you would not writh

"A non O can also be ... in TH"

If you would let the "A" away, it would be more cear, that there is no AO Visa in TH.?!

Don't follow. I stated......

"A Non O can also be obtained in Thailand from visa exempt or tourist visa entry."

Indeed it can. Use form TM87 if entered with visa exempt or TM86 if entered with tourist visa.

Regarding Non O-A that visa is only obtained outside of Thailand.

That visa requires no money in Thai Bank
