Changing from teaching work permit/visa to corporate job.

Featured Replies

I will be changing jobs soon and currently hold a work permit and Non B visa based on teaching work. New job would be in the corporate world (non BOI).

New company HR use a specialist agency for contracts/visas and they've said it's difficult to cancel/renew from teaching position to corporate. They recommend I exit the country, re-enter with tourist visa and then apply for a Non O visa. However, that's an issue because I haven't had a stable income for 3 months and far from 400K in the account either.

Anyone been in this situation?

First you don’t need 400,000 baht in the bank for a WP. If you’re still on good terms with the school, your new company should be able to contact them and transfer your WP to your new position, unless things have changed, or you are not on good terms with your previous employer.

If so just take a short trip somewhere close and do as your new employer wishes. But you should be entering with the paperwork for a Non B not a retirement visa. Just google it. Clear as day. As long as you are still on the 1 year visa.

Thanks, it's as I thought. I don't know why the agent said it's very troublesome to change work permits (from paper to e-permit, from teaching work to corporate). On good terms with previous employer so no issue there.
