Medvedev Threatens Europe After Russian Drone Hits A NATO Nation

Russia's former president Dmitry Medvedev has issued a chilling warning to Europe after a Russian drone reportedly struck a residential building in Romania, declaring that Europeans should not expect "peaceful nights" in the future.

Russian Drone Sparks NATO Alarm

The incident occurred when a Russian Geran-2 drone allegedly crossed into Romanian airspace during a wider attack on Ukraine before hitting an apartment block in the city of Galați.

Romanian authorities said two people were injured, describing the strike as one of the most serious violations of Romanian territory since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The attack triggered immediate condemnation from NATO and EU leaders, with alliance members warning that Russian military actions were increasingly threatening neighbouring countries.

Medvedev Launches Furious Tirade

Responding on Telegram, Medvedev mocked the outrage from European governments and dismissed concerns over the attack.

The Kremlin hardliner claimed European nations had no right to complain because of their military and financial support for Ukraine, repeating Moscow's long-standing argument that Western countries are effectively participants in the war.

In a profanity-filled post, he told European leaders to "shut your piehole" and warned that similar incidents could happen again.

'This Won't Be The Last Time'

Medvedev's most alarming remark was directed not at politicians but at ordinary Europeans.

"This won't be the last time," he warned, before adding that citizens across the continent "shouldn't be going to sleep expecting peaceful nights."

The comments are among the most direct threats yet issued by one of Russia's most senior officials toward European populations.

Romania Hits Back

Romanian President Nicușor Dan responded by expelling Russia's consul general and closing Russia's consulate in Constanța.

Romanian officials said the drone's entry into national airspace represented an unacceptable breach of sovereignty and demanded accountability from Moscow.

NATO Rallies Behind Romania

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte expressed the alliance's full support for Romania, while Ursula von der Leyen said Russia's actions had crossed "yet another line."

Meanwhile, Andrii Sybiha argued the strike demonstrated that Russia's aggression now threatens the wider Black Sea region and Europe as a whole.

Kremlin's Chief Attack Dog

Once regarded as one of Russia's more moderate figures, Medvedev has transformed into one of the Kremlin's most aggressive public voices since the invasion of Ukraine.

He has repeatedly issued warnings about escalation, including numerous references to nuclear weapons, and has become a frequent source of inflammatory rhetoric aimed at Western governments.

His latest comments are likely to deepen concerns across NATO that Moscow's language is becoming increasingly confrontational as the war drags on.
