Tourist desecrate part of death railway ?

Featured Replies

I find it interesting that no one is talking about this.

The other fact is the post title

10000 baht fine but the story says upto 10 k

They are Thai tourists, so not a big deal.

You need to get with the program. thumbsup

Aw Okay I wondered how they got the nice rides. Whitsh skin through me off

The challenge is that Thais are not taught about the Riail road.

I would hazard a guess but might end up in jail.

I liked how BPs headline was "Tourists" not 'Thai Tourists'. They know how to butter their bread in this latest outbreak of ‘Farang He Evil’ media campaign. That said, if it is not directly related to Thai history, or what they consider Thai history, locals don’t seem to care much about it. I remember them cutting up Portuguese cannons from the 1500's they had found, to make amulets to sell. Powerful magic in that old metal and no one seemed to care they were pretty historic artifacts in their own right. Obviously the same reaction to WWII artifactsTIT

Now that I post that. You might recall what the Chinese pirate salvage operators did to protected military remains sites like the Repulse & Prince of Wales plus many other ships of the ill fated ABDA fleet. Desecration for sure, but a general attitude hereabouts.

Shouldn't that be Death Railway which in itself isn't right, it should be the Thai - Burma Railway?

Of course it's to honor the almost 100.000 that died building it for the Japanese. It is the Siam-Burma and Thai- Burma Railway in name also.

Not sure of your history lessons, BUT to anyone who is of SE Asian (minus Thailand) or British Commonwealth, this railway will always be called the Death Railway.

YOu might want to look at what was in the location that they desecrated with their vehicles
