June 6Jun 6 Our grand neice recently underwent the removal of her gall bladder. She is recovering well on schedule. However, my wife refuses to allow her to eat chicken, only fish or pork, alledgedly because "its bad for her" I cannot see the connection. Will sombody with more medical knowledge please educate me?
June 6Jun 6 There most probably is no connection. But for an answer it would be necessary to know why a young person had her gall bladder removed, quite unusual.

June 7Jun 7 No reason to avoid chicken. The main precaution after GB removal is to avoid consuming very large amounts of fat/oil at one time. Lacvk of a GB means that your digestion of fat relies upon bile secreted by the liver, which is a mote limited amount (no more stockpile of bile in the GB). People vary in how much fat they can tolerate in one go after GB removal but experience will quickly tell you.
