Non O for being parent to thai kid with 400K only for two weeks

Featured Replies

Hey guys i did two time 60 days entries and i guess its gonna be harder now. I do now have the 400K locked since around 10 days Looks like Phuket will not accept that . Any chance to be able to do a non O 90 days abroad with an agent with 400K and all papers but not money on account for 2 months ? . Thanks

The Thai consulates in Vietnam (HCMC & Hanoi) and in Lao (Vientiane & Savannakhet)will allow you to get that 90-day non-immigrant type O Visa without any seasoning. The funds only have to be in the account when you apply.

You still will need to upload 3 months worth of bank statements when you apply online via the eVisa website.

You don't need an agent, there is no seasoning on the 400k, you can actually use proof of funds in your own country to get that visa issued at a Thai consulate.

The 400K only has to be in the account on the day of submission, so why would Phuket not accept that?

I presume after obtaining the Non O you intend applying for the 1 year extension?
Was the child born in wedlock, or were you unmarried?
Does the child reside with you?

Where are you currently located.

As posted above seasoning of the 400k should not be required.

Obtain a 3 month bank statement.

Also if you obtain eVisa from eg Laos you do not require an agent (nothing they can really assist you with.

Haven't we discussed options previously

well last time when i asked for a family extension the officer said i couldnt because i did one 6 years ago and i asked about non 0 and he said i needed the money for more than a week..... maybe he confused it with the one year extension...

I did this visa for many years before but couldnt renew due to no funds.

Ch ild is born during wedding time now divorced.

He lives with me one week every 2 weeks.

Rawai phuket . I will try my luck at Phuket town but on the https://piv-phuket.com/custodian-to-thai-child/ website they write this : Initial Non-O 90 Day Requirements
- 15 working days left on current stamp. I have about 7 days left , never knew this before and dont know if they enforce it....

Thats right i talked about it before but i didnt have the money and i do now

If current entry is 60 visa exempt entry and you have not obtained a 60 day extension "to visit thai family" you could do that to buy time

Assume you are aware that might be able to obtain Non O from visa exempt entry in Thailand

Yes since you have had new entries not from that previous non O or reentry permit you can obtain a new 60 day extension.

The problem I foresee is that by your own admission you do not have 'sole' custody of the child, which is a requirement for both applying for the Non O and subsequent 1 year extension from Immigration.

Custodian to Thai Child (90 Day Non-O / 1 Year Extension)
If a foreigner has sole custody of a Thai child (20 years old or younger) they can apply for a custodian extension if they fulfill the required criteria.

Then as advised, you should be able to apply for a 60 day extension to your permission of stay to visit Thai family.

You then have ample time to apply for the Non O based on dependent of Thai child.

As per the Phuket link, they require the 400K funds has to be in your Thai bank account for 1 day prior to submitting the Non O application.

Official requirements to change visa type. (VE to Non O Thai child)

Do you have a document from the court or amphur office signed by the mother stating that you are the child's legal guardian?

i have divorce papers listing me as a shared custodian to my son. And before i couldnt renew it due to finance , i did this non O after my divorce for many years without trouble

To avoid trip abroad for Non O eVisa.

You could consider obtaining the 60 day extension and leaving the 400k in bank.

If Phuket insist on 2 month seasoning then you will have enough time (with the 60 extension) to satisfy Phuket immigration.

Note apply for the Non O with minimum 15 business days remaining on permission of stay stamp..

When you obtain the Non O (using TM87) you can then obtain the 12 month extension at immigration.

Do that in last 45 days of the 90 day stamp.

Hey guys.

So i went there this morning to the family room. The foreigner lady checking demands at entrance told me that i could NOT do a 60 days family extension on a visa exemption. I proceed to tell her that i think it was possible to which she asked me " if i wanted to teach her her job after she have been working there for years ". I declined the offer and she asked me where i got this information, i said on a nice internet forum and she told me that this was making her mad. I then asked her if she was sure i could do a 30 days extension on my second exempt entry in a row, and she said yes i could absolutely do that.

I changed to the other room and the thai officer proceed to let met know that i CANNOT extend 30 days because it was my second exempt visa entry in a row. Only 7 days. After i offered to finance the officer football team for their weekly meetings and showed him my son papers and why i needed it he agreed to give me 30 days extension.

I now need to very soon go back there to try to get a 3 months non 0 family visa with 2 sets of complete documents and 4 pictures and a few weeks later do the exact same thing again to get a one year extension.

Also something new from the list of requirements for the Non 0 is that you need, on top of your kid, to have a Thai person present as a witness to the whole operation both times.

To apply for Non O you require 15 business days remaining on stamp.

So yes you need to act quickly.

The Non O provides a 90 day stamp.

After funds how been in account for 2 months you can apply for 12 month extension.

Here is quote from ubonjoe...

"You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife.

It does not matter what visa you used for entry. It can even be applied for to extend a visa exempt entry"

That thread concerned wife however Thai child also applicable.

You didn't previously notify the forum you'd already had a 30 day extension.
The refusal is hardly surprising given you'd already received permission to stay in the Country for 150 days and you were fortunate to receive a further 30 day extension.

I'd be preparing and submitting that Non O application early the week after next.

Extension based on Thai child, funds generally only need to be in the account on the day of application, although the Phuket Immigration site states funds must be seasoned for 7 days for the extension dependent child.

Refusal was obviously due to the fact the OP had already stayed almost 150 days.

no sorry the girl never mentionned that she said its impossible to do a 60 days family extension on visa exempt entry. She said last year yes now NO. She may be wrong but she went mad when i said i think its possible and was close to ask me to leave so....

I didnt have the finance to renew my Non O visa so I went out of thailand and came back with a 60 day exempt entry. I did a 30 days extension on it then left thailand again. I got a new 60 days when back in Thailand and i now extended it also to 30 days more. I never stayed more than 90 days before leaving the country.

anyway i think she was wrong but she didnt let me argument it and started to be quite agressive so... But i got the 30 days at least and will proceed with non 0 very soon. Thanks for the help !

How busy is there now?

Im asking because Phuket immigration online appointment booking has been down for months and I was told by volunteers it won't be back again.

Last few years it was pretty smooth, I was always at the desk at the time I choose.

We are seeing more and more immigration offices not allowing the 60-day visit Thai family extension on a free stamp / Visa exempt or tourist visa entry.

At least it sounds like you have your ducks in a row now and will be able to go ahead and apply for the incountry Non O visa shortly.
