Thai SETV online- rental agreement ok for itinerary?

Featured Replies

Afternoon folks.
I will soon be applying for a SETV online, and it will ask me for stuff like an itinerary. I have a 6 month lease (which I will be half way through) on an apartment. Would uploading this for the itinerary/accomdation documentation be a bad idea, or is it ok? Should I get a (dummy) hotel booking and upload that instead?
I have a departure flight booked to my home country.
Any other documents I should or should not use? The bank account docs will (genuinely) show over B700,000.
(I will be doing this in Laos, if that is relevant.)
Thanks

For a SETV a simple hotel booking would suffice. You could make a fully refundable booking..

You could use address of your leased apartment however why would a tourist have a 6 month lease.

Geez. Is that in a Thai bank.

20k is sufficient.

Are you over 50? There are other visa options

Yes, over 50, but don't anticipate staying beyond that next SETV period. Perhaps I might, and if that happens, I'll look at how I do it. I am already doing some study, so if I do choose to stay longer, that is one possible way. It'll probably happen one day, but probably a few years off.
One more thing, if I may. Does the return ticket need to be within the 60 days that I specify on an itinerary? My flight is about Oct 10th, so should I say (and have a booking consistent with) I am entering 60 days before that, or will it not be looked at that closely?

20,000 baht is the standard requirement for a single entry tourist visa. But you need to check the website of the embassy you are applying through to see what their specific requirement is. Many embassies set a higher amount in the native currency so they don't have to constantly adjust it when the exchange rate fluctuates up and down. For example here, is the requirement from the Thai embassy in Washington DC:

Recent savings or checking bank statements for the last three months showing an ending balance of at least $ 700 for each month per person or $2,000 per family, with the applicant's name and date. If submitting a family bank statement (joint account), proof of relationship (e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided

That's over 22,000 baht at today's exchange rate, but it makes it much easier for the embassy.
