Places To Play Go (japanese I-go) In Bkk?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

does Bangkok have any go salons, go clubs, or just cafes where people get together to play go? I'm hoping with the number of Japanese expats, there might be such a place.

(not the same as go-go! :o but the Japanese board game)

Thanks!

I don't know of any clubs and such but GO will be a "demonstration sport" at this year's SEAGAME in Korat. So maybe after the SEAGAME, GO will really take of in Thailand.

Cool, Ski_Goong,

when is this happening?

Japanese association of Thailand has Igo club and they seem get together to play at the association headquarter at Sathorn Thani building on north Sathorn every Saturday at 1PM.

Sathorn Thani Bldg.

92/2 North Sathorn Rd. Bangrak, Bangkok 10500

Here's a link if you read Japanese.

There is one between Soi Convent and Saladaeng, I think sponsored by 7-11 (CP Group).

Saladaeng soi 2

I can't explain which building it is exactly, but it's the next building after the Swiss Hotel on the right side (coming from Convent).

It's on the second floor floor.

People are quite nice, if you show interest, they will offer you to play.

And here is the Thai Go Association.

And the thai Go journal:

Let me know if you need a player :o

OP look up this lovely little book on the Net, it's all about Go but it has two wonderful stories running through it. Can't remember the author but the title is 'The Girl Who Played Go'
