Tourist Visa Application Cancelled at HCMC Consulate

Featured Replies

I applied for a 90 Tourist Visa on-line at HCMC Consulate, all looked good until I got an email requesting further Documents “Expiration Date Wrong” Then later that day, got another email “ Request for further information cancelled” Application was placed in ‘Pending Approval’ status. I got another email today “Application Cancelled - wrong personal information” Now the status is “Finished” I called several times today, of course no answer. Anyone have this problem in the past? Website says ‘Application fee is non-refundable’ so guess I am out $200, but would like an explanation. I have had one entry this year on 60 day Visa exempt, but only stayed 30 days, should I take a chance on another Visa Exempt entry??

First time for me - never been denied before. My passport is a newer one, very hard to copy with all the holograms. It's curious they originally said ‘expiration date wrong’ pspt was issued 22 SEP 2025, exp: 21 SEP2035. What do you think I should do??, I am 3 hours away from Saigon, but would make the trip if need be.

When online applications are canceled it means you have data entry error and there was a mismatch between what you typed in or what was autofilled in and what your passport actually says.

That results in the application being immediately canceled you forfeiting the application fee and you having to apply and pay again if you want a visa.

If the application was rejected that means some of your documentation was not correct but if it says it was canceled that was an error that you made when you filled out the application

Why the need to go to Saigon.

e-Visa application is done online including payment.

Did you fill out all the fields correctly. One common mistake is "Name" fields..

BTW: SETV has a validity of 90 days however the stamp on entry would be 60 days.

Entering visa exempt is an option.

However the airline may require onward flight.

There is no need to make a trip to the Embassy because they will do nothing. I believe it was when you scanned the mrz (machine readable zone) of your passport it filled in the data incorrectly on the application and you did not catch it.

Also sounds like you applied for a 6-month multi entry tourist visa because that's what cost $200 USD.

Expensive lesson to learn but it has happened to many many hundreds and hundreds of people all over the world since the E Visa online system was rolled out.

All you can do is apply again, sadly there is no do-over for a data entry error. Check all the data that you enter before you submit your application.

Well, I checked and double checked before launching it. The application is completely on-line and I didn't see an option to print it out, so can’t check what I entered. Guess I’ll have to apply again. My Vietnamese Visa here is good until 9 July so I have time. Thanx again

I haven't applied for a SETV eVisa in Vietnam, however have obtained eVisas to enter Vietnam.

There is a "review" option at the end prior to payment.

Would have thought that the eVisa application for Thailand would be the same.

BTW: what did you use as proof of being in Vietnam. Entry stamp?
