Airport arrival with visa

Featured Replies

Hi all, after obtaining a visa, do you guys tell the immigration officer at the airport you have a visa (and type) or do you just hand over the passport/documents and let them work it out?

  • Popular Post

Your visa will be an evisa which you must print and present with your passport at immigration. That's it, easy.

OP, don't understand your motive.

If you have an eVisa you hand a printout to io.

If you had a reentry permit you would point that out to io.

Is the aim to try and obtain a visa exempt entry stamp to save the visa for later use?

Strange question

I have no motive and I am not trying to obtain a visa exempt entry stamp.

I was just trying to gauge what level of conversation people have with the immigration officer (if at all).

You appear to have answered my question because you have said...

"If you have an eVisa you hand a printout out to io"

"If you had a reentry permit you would point that out to io"

This is what I was looking for - thank you. Feel free to delete or lock the thread because you've answered what I was looking for.

My 2 simple rules my past 56 inbound trips:

1) Beforehand, know everything they need for me to hand over.....present on arrival.

2) Speak only if spoken to.

Try smiling too.........but not for the picture-taking it says!!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Since the introduction of TDAC, soon to be replaced by THIM, the immigration officer will see most of the information he needs when he/she swipes your passport through their scanner. They always insist that you show your boarding pass from the flight you arrived on into Bangkok.

THIM is not replacing TDAC. You can just do the TDAC inside of the THIM app. It's another way of submitting the TDAC, not a replacement for it.

On arrival at Thailand (at the international airport) I typically hand over to the IO my passport open to my Visa page. I say absolutely nothing (unless spoken to) .... Having typed that, most of the time the IO appears to ignore that, and scroll through many other pages, before returning to the page where my Visa was, and also to where the most recent entry and exit stamps were (If there was an exit stamp). In my passport they often try to put the Thai stamps on the same page in the passport as other Thai exit/entry stamps (space permitting).

Ignore THIM.

Just do your TDAC within 72 hours prior to entry.

Takes a minute or two.

You will receive confirmation and approval in quick time.

My wife is Thai and travels on a foreign passport. Does she have to do a TDAC?

If she enters Thailand on foreign passport then yes should do a TDAC.

Of course if she enters on her Thai pp then not required.

I've done a few TDAC for various trips.

Trust me it's very simple

Not that you asked however if she ever wants extended stay in Thailand she can exit on foreign pp then on arrival in Thailand enter on Thai pp.

For return just reverse process

I don't think she wants to stay in Thailand; she has been in OZ for about 20 years, has dual citizenship, and has a good job (about $65 per hour), but for some reason, she always travels on the OZ passport. Thanks for your advice about TDAC,

You'd better tell my wife she paid 177 AUD for the TDAC card, which should be free; she got scammed and is trying to get the money back from the bank.

What on earth are you referring to.

There is one valid site for TDAC.

Maybe there are some scammers around who copy the site's information
