Putin wants to talk

Featured Replies

the world is upside down as Putin just came up with the joke of the year, or he may be wetting&popping his pants as his losses keep mounting, Trump's promises during the Alaska meeting didn't materialize, he has been back stabbed and thrown under the bus and out of desperation he wants to negotiate a peace deal, now he wants to talk but when Zelensky asked him to meet at the G7 meeting he declined and ignored the invitation, if it was for me I would give him the middle finger

Russia is losing its war against Ukraine. Proof of this has come from Vladimir Putin himself, who has issued a desperate call for a return to peace talks while his oil refineries burn and his bridges to occupied territory are pounded by Kyiv’s missiles.

Now may be the time for Rutte to explain to the 47th president of the US that his Nato allies are indeed pulling their weight without US help (aside from intelligence) in Ukraine.

Putin is asking for peace talks. It’s time to kick him while he’s down

President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday accused Kyiv of trying to destabilise Russian society and said the Russian government would implement additional measures to offset the consequences of the strikes.

Ukraine has said its strategy of targeting Russian energy facilities with long-range drones is aimed at sapping a key source of Russia's war funds and showing Russians the four-year-old conflict launched by Moscow is no longer distant.

There were no agreements made in Alaska.

Even Marco Rubio denies that the US and Russia reached an agreement regarding the Ukraine war in Alaska. "There was a proposal in Alaska, but there was no agreement in Alaska."

Furthermore Russias position hasen't changed one micron and does not back down from its maximum demands.

What sounds like a willingness to talk is in reality a poisoned offer serving solely Russian propaganda. The Kremlin wants to show that the failure to reach an agreement won't be its fault; Ukraine need only submit, and the war would be over.

There can therefore be no talk of a concession when Putin points back to Istanbul four years later. As long as that remains the case, negotiations with him are pointless.

and the military start to ask questions as they don't see an end to the "" 4days"" war as Putin claimed when he decided to move in Ukraine, military no happy trouble on the horizon

... if the country isn't told the "truth" about the war.

Alexander Lunin addressed the Russian president to warn of "very serious consequences" if his demands were ignored.

The 39-year-old father of two went on to say he'd been asked to "deliver a message" to Putin by unnamed military officials and members of the security services. They told him to demand a meeting with Putin at the Kremlin that would include a "live-broadcast audience," he said, so that the country could learn the "truth" about what is going on.

he sure must want to talk as his losses keep mounting, Ukraine has the upper hand now and he knows it, Russian citizens and military people are all tired of his senseless war

Initial damage reports from Russia after the overnight attack provided scant information. Russia's Defense Ministry usually doesn't say what was targeted in Ukraine's drone attacks, nor does it detail any damage.

he will have to start to talk because at this rate his military will be decimated soon enough and the Russian population will turn against him, no gas, no oil = no income

In Moscow, meanwhile, Putin on Sunday obliquely admitted Ukraine's long-range strike campaign was affecting Russians' lives, but then quickly dismissed those concerns.

Crimea has shortage of fuel, the kerch bridge has been bombed on a regular basis, the tide has turned and Putin knows it, he tries to ignore it but his fall it's coming sooner rather then later

Vladimir Putin Is Heading For A Fall

He doesn't actually want to talk.

He still wants only to talk to Ukraine about them surrendering.

He's totally delusional.

Ukraine is going to need to hit Russia much harder if there is ever to be any hope of him facing the actual reality. Better yet, he gets forced out internally.

In my opinion, the idea that Putin faces a swift, inevitable fall misses the reality: he is locked in a strategic deadlock.
He cannot end the war without risking a severe economic shock because Russia has become heavily dependent on wartime spending.
Yet continuing the conflict only deepens the long-term drain on Russia's finances, infrastructure, logistics, and military capacity.
Faced with these two costly choices, he is likely to continue a war of attrition.
An internal coup is, in my view, highly unlikely because his security apparatus suppresses serious threats before they can gain momentum.

The most effective response is for Ukraine's allies to dramatically increase military and financial support, hastening the point at which Russia can no longer sustain the war.

Ukraine is winning with all the military tech given by European union nations who are stepping in a dangerous escalade of hostilities with Russia. Europe is also going bankrupt with all the trillions of dollars given to Kiev. With all the corruption scandals involving the top level of governance in Ukraine and when one sees all the luxury cars with Ukraine plates parading all over top level european resorts, one may ponder on where all the money is going. Take the exemple of places like Portugal, where the ukrainians are comming over and paying for top real estateproperties in cash.

Yes for sure even a 15 year old is aware on the goons, corruption and mafias in Russia. So don't get me wrong. I'm not pro Russia or pro east european. But are the ukraines any better ?

Putin's top or perhaps only priority is personal survival and regime survival, arguably the same thing.

He can't stop. He won't stop. Unless and until he's made to stop.

Much better.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin commented on the situation in the Ukraine war on Sunday at the "United Russia" party congress and in a lengthy interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.

Putin reiterated familiar positions, largely read his answers from a teleprompter, and conveyed above all one thing: Russia remains committed to fully capturing the four regions - including those parts it does not actually control.

It was particularly revealing how Putin spoke about negotiations - namely at length, frequently, and with a striking lack of commitment.

Behind this lies the intention of long-term narrative preparation: by repeating his conditions like a mantra and rejecting every concrete proposal from the other side, Putin is laying the groundwork to frame future negotiations as a vindication of his own stance.

The issue of fuel was the only point where Putin was forced to be specific.

Yet even there, he stuck to his established pattern: acknowledge the problem, shift the blame elsewhere, and promise a solution without making any concrete commitment. The same principle applied to the topic of negotiations - lots of words, no substance, and the possibility of failure already baked in.

What Putin is actually grappling with: not just Ukraine, but the reality presented to him by his own generals.

Nice try. Prefacing your argument with 'I'm not pro-Russia' doesn't change the argument. This is a textbook fallacy of distraction, used to manufacture a false neutrality between a sovereign nation defending itself and an invading superpower.

Unsupported claims: Luxury cars? Cash property deals? Trillions from a bankrupt EU? Where's the evidence? Otherwise it just looks like you made it up.

Even if every allegation were true, it still wouldn't justify Russia's illegal war of aggression.

In Europe these claims about the luxury cars etc. were made already over 2 years ago. Fact-checkers have clearly and unequivocally identified these statements as Russian propaganda.

I am surprised that attempts are still being made to spread such clearly refuted disinformation.

I generally follow Brandolini’s Law — the BS asymmetry principle:

It takes exponentially more effort to refute bull**** than to produce it.

This is especially true when there are multiple 'deposits' of it in a post.

The burden of proof sits with the claimant — I stopped cleaning it up once I was done changing my kids’ diapers.

some interesting numbers about Russia's military lives losses,(war casualties) the numbers are staggering and much higher then what the Moscow puppets say, Putin really doesn't give a rats arxx about his people, they are just cannon fodder, one has to wonder how many North Koreans and Africans are included on the report

Russia’s military has suffered approximately 1.4 million battlefield casualties, including as many as 450,000 deaths, since the start of its 2022 invasion of Ukraine, according to a study published Wednesday.

"Russian fatalities in Ukraine are more than four times greater than all U.S. fatalities in all wars combined since World War II, and more than nine times greater than all Soviet and Russian fatalities in all wars combined since World War II,” the report states.
