Interestingly, the hooks on the symbol on the famous Elephant Gate at Carlsberg Breweries in Copenhagen turn right like a Nazi Swastika. However, the symbol isn't angled at 45 degrees like a Nazi swastika and the statue was built in 1901, well before the rise of Nazism, so it isn't connected to Nazism. From the screen grab of the girl's ankle, her tattoo is left facing, so technically not a Nazi swastika. It's confusing, but as I understand it, to tell the religious and Nazi symbols apart: Right-Facing Swastika 卐 This is the true swastika. Symbolizes the sun, luck, and good energy. Commonly used by Hindus and Jains to welcome wealth. Left-Facing Swastika 卍 Turns to the left (counterclockwise). Called a sauwastika. Symbolizes the night, magic, and the goddess Kali. Also used in Buddhism to show the footprints of Buddha. Nazi Swastika: Right facing and tilted at 45 degrees. How to tell the religious symbols apart from the Nazi symbol: In the West, both religious versions of the symbol are often conflated with the Hakenkreuz (hooked cross), which was adopted by the Nazi Party in the early 20th century. However, as stated, the Nazis used a right-facing, 45 degree tilted version of the symbol.
