Marriage visa - 341 day stamp instead of full 1 year

Featured Replies

Went to immigration chonburi and realised i got 341 days instead of 365 of marriage visa. Is there any explanation for this? Its 24 days short

Do they count the under consideration date? Even then, it doesnt really add up.

What date you apply for the extension.

What was date of expiry of permission of stay from the Non O stamp.

What was the date of date to return after under consideration period.

Some offices do it differently for first extension.

What was the expiry date of your previous permission of stay?

After receiving your 30 day under consideration stamp, once approved the extension is backdated to when your previous permission of stay expired.

It's not a 30 day extension + a 365 day extension.

If your previous permission of stay expired 7th July 2026, then the new extension stamp should grant permission of stay again until 7th July 2027.

  • I applied 1 year extension on 8th june.

  • Date of expiry on non-o under consideration was 8th July (tommorow)

  • Date of return of date was 7th July (today)

  • Now i got stamp showing visa until (13 june 2027) which is 341 days.

Is there any explanation or should I go back and have this corrected?

I would not go back and hassle with getting another ~30 days. I have a feeling you will wish you hadn't if you do. To fix it in my estimation would be it takes hours and at worse multiple visits.

Really good point. It's not serious amount of days.

Let it slide

From op other threads seems this is first extension from a Non O stamp.

Not ongoing extensions

Oh ok..but question still stands...what was the expiry date of his first Non-O

Correct. In general the extension would date from expiry date of the Non O stamp.

Bit of spilt milk thread.

Even if error it's not worth concern for minimal days

Exactly. Retirement ext you can do early and not lose any time, but I believe with marriage ext, the date you reapply is the start date of the new one year, in which case the OP is getting mixed up with under consideration days etc.

So if he applied on June 8th (irrespective of the expiry date of the first Non-O), then he actually got about 370 days.

I believe this is the correct scenario...

I suspect the OP came in on NON-O and he has yet to really clarify.
My guess is he entered and got 90 days, good until 13 June, then applied for his extension and got a year added onto the end of his initial 90 day stay.

EDIT: My bad, browser did not refresh, and OP has confirmed my guess.

Not correct. There is nothing different about a marriage extension. It will be 1-year from the previous permission of stay, regardless of when you apply.

There have been times at Jomtien IO, where my scenario is correct....experienced.

Possibly now it is as you describe.

Anyway doesn't matter either way now...the OP has his information, so on we go to another subject thread.

You are confused. 😶

Year extensions of stays are added to the expiration date of your current initial non-o entry stamp (if it's your first extension) or to the date of your current extension expiration date.

Doesn't matter how early you apply for the extension, you do not lose any time applying early.

The ONLY time you "lose time" if if you change the reason for an extension, marriage to retirement, or vice versa, then the new extension starts the day you applied for it and you would "lose the time" if you applied early.

At least the O/P realized their 90 day non o stamp expired June 13th, which is the expiration date of their yearly extension 🙂

After getting my annual retirement extension, I always check the dates on the extension stamp to make sure that they are correct before leaving the Immigration office.
