But it is still shocking to realize that so many things are not what I have been told.

Like the many Holocaust Memorials, we have in Germany are not as I believed institutions to maintain our culture of remembrance, built to analyze, understand and hopefully recognize and prevent any development that might lead to a second holocaust, no these institutions are exactly the opposite.

They Have only one purpose: to keep the forever victim status of the Jews and consequently justify the genocide of the Palestinians and Germany’s support for it.

Prof. Norman Finkelstein is one of the exceptions.

Once upon a time in America, during the Vietnam era, the anti-war movement was huge and was largely instrumental in ending that war. LBJ declined to run for a second term, Nixon was elected, and "peace was at hand." US troops were gone by 1973 or so, and the war ended in 1975.

Fast forward to 2026 and the college kids could apparently care less. Some of them do, for sure, at least to the extent that they realize what Israel is doing to the Palestinians. We've seen demonstrations at places like Columbia and NYU in NYC. But mostly, it's business as usual.

What changed from the early 70s?. Back then there was a draft. Students could get deferments. Maybe if the US were to reintroduce the draft with no deferments possible, things would be different?

People need to wake up. Forever wars are not the answer.

Now some of those students have become part of the establishment and oppose students who oppose the war.

Obviously the price for wealth and power is your compassion, your sense of justice, your moral compass and your ability to learn from history.

Many Americans lost a father, brother, or son in recent Middle East wars, believing they made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. How must they feel now, discovering their loved one was sacrificed only to destabilize the region to simply allow Israel to commit war crimes with a lower risk of retaliation.

Right. Read The Holocaust Industry - it's not a Holocaust denier book. It was written (long berfore the present conflict in Gaza) by Norman Finkelstein, a US Professor, and son of Holocaust survivors.
