Pneumonia Injection

Featured Replies

Anyone have any idea of which hospitals in Kalasin, Roiet, or Mukdahan that may give these injections?

I have enquired at our local clinic in Kuchinarai and they have never heard of it.

I don't know what a "pneumonia injection" is either. If you mean the pneumococcal vaccine, it's available almost everywhere. Any reputable hospital with a health promotion, check-up, or geriatric department should be able to provide it.

Kalasin-Thonburi hospital has it. Prevnar (pneumoccocal) vaccine 20. Single dose, 3,900 baht.

The package shown on the right -- (assuming you have not had a prior pneumoccoccal vaccine. If you have, then come back and tell me what type).

Thank you very much.

I did visit the local hospital but they really couldn't offer a suggestion - sooo busy and a bit dangerous with all these people coughing. You have to line up and use the same blood pressure monitor as the guy before, then do musical chairs to get to a dr.

If you get there at 0700, see the dr about 1000, tests etc, results about 1400, finish about 1500.

For me, already having pneumonia last year, and 81, just seems a risk at the local hospital.

Pretty sure it's the same at all smaller government hospitals

Prevnar 20 appears to be currently the pneumonia vaccination of choice, and only one shot is required. Prevnar 20 protects against the same 13 strains as Prevnar 13, plus 7 additional strains (8, 10A, 11A, 12F, 15B, 22F, and 33F). These 7 additional strains are responsible for a significant percentage of remaining invasive pneumococcal disease cases globally. I had my vaccination in Prachuap Khiri Khan at a local clinic last month - the cost was around 3,290 Baht. Note that in the price list below they mis-type PCV as 'PVC'. Some hospitals/clinics charge more than this, so it pays to shop around.......
