My Thai family all love Japanese food (me too), we often buy packs of partly prepared Japanese curry and it's devoured quickly.

One thing missing - the small diced red coloured pickled radish usually served with Japanese curry in restaurants, quite delicious and a good additional to the curry sauce / meat / vegetables.

I've searched supermarkets etc., but I can't fnd the red pickles. And suggestions where I could buy a pack / jar or whatever in Chiang Mai or online very much appreciated.

Kobe ya in the changklang area by the changklang cemetery. There’s another Japanese shop in the meechok plaza, don’t recall the name and never been in it.

You may want to try Rimping. They have a variety of foods from different nationalities.

Already checked 3 4 Rimping branches, no red pickles in fact Japanese food stuff range very limited. From this question I've got 4 more places to check. Just got to get lucky.

As of 6 months ago, there was still a nice Japanese market across from the Si Phum Corner of the Moat. If it's still there, they may have what you need.

If not, make them yourself. The red color comes from Shiso leaves; the daikon is white at the start. Making Japanese tsukemono is easier than making Western-style pickles; usually, just salt is added and then fermented for a week or two.
My Japanese wife always has 2-3 different jars of tsukemono in the fridge at any given time; daikon, mustard greens, ginger, etc,.

The place you want is Foods Classic in Meechok Plaza. It is quite a large shop entirely devoted, as far as I can see, to Japanese foods, much of it frozen. I regularly buy Japanese seaweed salad there, since I am fond of it. It is shown on Google Maps, next door to Pizzeria Giotto

It is called FUKUJIN-ZUKE and can get Rimping Supermarket.

I found it at the META MALL branch located along Route 118. They have a better selection of Japanese food products than at the main(Nawarat) store.I don't remember the price, but I don't think it was expensive.
