Foreign Tourist Loses Tooth in Unprovoked Pattaya Street Attack

A foreign tourist suffered a broken tooth and a bleeding mouth after being punched by a Thai man on Pattaya Sai Song Road on August 6. CCTV footage shows the tourist smoking and speaking with his Thai girlfriend when another man approached and struck him once in the face. The girlfriend said her boyfriend had done nothing to provoke the attack and claimed she had previously seen the alleged attacker, described locally as homeless, approaching people in the area asking for cigarettes. Police were contacted and the injured tourist was taken to hospital for treatment following the assault. No formal complaint or legal action has been confirmed, while Pattaya authorities continue efforts to address homelessness and encourage people in need to use government welfare services.
