If my memory is good , the cost of the container Melbourne - Bangkok was cheap ( about 1000$ ) the high cost for me was loading and insurance over 2500$.

I think took 8 weeks.

From France to Melbourne took 12 weeks

Be extra careful with tax / duty, i bring mine under a Thai student name, was only few thousand baht tea money ! But i heard some horror stories

of course, it's better off buying locally.

i can recommend some.

what type of furniture you are brining? are they wood?

why bother with importing tax, shipping time, and etc.

There are many good furniture you can find locally.

where r u moving to? BKK? have experience in this field,

it takes around 30 days by ship (depends on agencies, but mine

can make it not more than 30 days). However, why bother if you can find

fine furniture in thailand.

Hi

Basically i have a 5 thousand doller italin leather loung and a king zize bed. repacement would be a lot so just weighing up my options

h

It is better to weigh your options in Aussie, than trying to figure put what to do one your goods are here in Customs.... and you are at their mercy.

A customs agent could decide he likes your sofa and make new fees everytime that you arrive to make payment.

They can charge you whever they want to charge for any reason they choose.

I really believe that you would be better off to sell, to store or to lend to your brother/sister, etc. your furniture rather than bringing it here.

"They can charge you whever they want to charge for any reason they choose."

...and no receipt from my experience..just a number on a scrap of paper.

They are pricks. You want your stuff and they know it.

Nowdays they are in the habit of forcing 'storage fees' on you. They hold up delivery for a week or 10 days and add that too!

There is nobody to complain to either.

Been going on for decades and the Authorities do nothing.

I was doing import/export but never knew how much they were going to charge.

Not a very good way to run a business..not knowing my costs!

How many business' do these guys chase away?

Seagate Co. pulled out of a recent proposal and 40,000 jobs went to another Country.

Another case of greed and screwing over the Country for personal gains.

"They can charge you whever they want to charge for any reason they choose."

Absolutely right !

Leather, i took mine with me , left the 3 seater in my house in Melbourne ! took the 2 seater here !

After 7 years start to show wear and tear , not in good stats now .

Will need to get a Upholstery with new fabric soon !

The 3 seater is like new in australia !

Bed, if it is a natural Latex or a memory form perhaps , if a normal bed , you can get some here !
