A Chon Buri school has ordered a mathematics teacher to stop teaching after a 16-year-old pupil alleged he sexually assaulted her in exchange for better grades and exam answers.

The girl's mother filed a complaint at Bang Lamung Police Station on 23 August, accompanied by her daughter and Sutthinee Nuchanart, head of the Chon Buri Children's Home and Family Office. The school director said on 24 August that an internal inquiry had already found grounds for serious disciplinary action.

The teacher and school have not been named. The teacher remains an accused person and has not been dismissed or transferred, as those decisions fall to the Chon Buri-Rayong Secondary Educational Service Area Office.

Pupil's allegations to police

The pupil, identified only as Ms B, told police through tears that she had been struggling with her studies. She alleged that the teacher offered help with assignments, improved grades and the chance to avoid an examination.

He allegedly supplied exam solutions for her to copy so that she could obtain the expected mark, before persuading her to meet him outside school.

According to her complaint, he first took her to a Bang Lamung resort where guests had to be naked in a shared swimming pool, and touched her. On another occasion, she said he took her to a room, asked for a massage and then for sex.

She alleged that a condom was used on the first occasion but not the second. Ms B also claimed the teacher regularly touched her inappropriately at school and that she secretly recorded video which she says shows his hand beneath her skirt.

Her 42-year-old mother, Ms A, said her previously cheerful daughter had become quiet and withdrawn before disclosing that she had been assaulted twice.

School inquiry and proposed agreement

The school director said a clip allegedly showing indecent conduct by a teacher began circulating among pupils on 13 July. The school began a confidential inquiry and, two days later, set up a committee after it was satisfied with the available evidence.

The teacher in the clip, the pupil and her parent were called to give initial statements. The school has sent documents and physical evidence to the education office, which can establish a further committee and impose serious disciplinary penalties.

The family said the school later prepared a handwritten document describing a relationship between the pupil and teacher. It proposed that the teacher transfer, that the girl receive 50,000 baht for mental distress, and that the pupil and parent be liable if video clips emerged after the agreement was signed on 15/07/26.

The teacher has worked at the school for more than seven years, including supervising Reserve Officer Training Corps students and other projects. The director said there had been no previous complaint.

Police have inspected the resort, while Children's Home and Family Office officials will take the girl for a medical examination to collect further evidence, as part of the ongoing investigation.

The school proposed that the teacher transfer after a sexual assault is yet another reason things won't change anytime soon here, along with paying money as compensation. If a foreigner's child was assaulted this way, the teacher would not get away with this so easily. Taking advantage of a young girl who's grades aren't good this way is the act of a predator scumbag, and he should be jailed immediately and registered as a sex offender, after being found guilty by evidence.

No children tell their parents everything , and her fear of failing had him taking advantage of that, exactly how a predator works.

Are criminal charges going to be filed?

Will the teacher be transferred to another school to victimize children again?

There should be a police investigation that should include school administration efforts to cover up a criminal act.

You probably think your comment is reasonable.

However, the facts are that groomed and sexually abused children overwhelmingly do not tell their parents or often anybody at all. The reasons for this are

1. The enormous power imbalance in the relationship with the authority figure, the teacher.

2. The enormous power imbalance in the relationship with the parents.

3. The shame.

4. The confusion.

5. The wish for the whole thing to be buried and suppressed.

6. The guilt.

7. The strong feeling they will be blamed and punished again.

8. The strong feeling they will not be believed.

The statistics on this are truly staggering. Over 90% of sexual abuse on children is not reported to any authority figure in the first 5 years after the abuse.

This is unfortueately a common "solution" to sexual assault at schools here. I am always stumped at why this type of behavior and sexual assaults on students goes unpunished. Why parents dont press this further legally both toward the assailant and the school for trying to cover it up is shameful. They are letting their children down in the worst possible way at a time the need protection the most.

Pay the family off and the victims to be liable (whatever that means) if there are any further revelations. How wonderfully Thai. Admit guilt with the payoff and then threaten the family.

Over the years I've read many times of the police not being interested. Complaints have been binned, or lengthy delays have led to families taking the case to Foundations and/or social media to try and get justice. It's just part of the culture. Teachers are respected no matter what, in a land where respect is routinely demanded rather than earned.

Its the thai way in this situation. Never take any accountability and twist it to try to cover up wrongdoing and stiffle facts and truth to avoid scrutiny. They only care about the impact to the schools reputation (and income steam) and not the wellbeing of the children in their care.

Transferring the teacher reminds me of when Catholic bishops in Australia would routinely transfer pedophile priests between parishes.

Anyone who thinks the teacher will reform after transfer has got rocks in their head. He'll be at it again in a new school.

They need to learn from western experiences. Priests particularly catholic ones would get caught sexually abusing a student(s) and be transferred to a new teaching position in which they would continue abusing others. If he’s guilty, he should be sacked and imprisoned!

This story reminds me of my youth, when a local church minister/priest was bumming little boys, then got moved to a different place rather than jail. Guess what? The bumming carried on. At least until some parents got a hold of him... Based on the article this teacher should be in jail, should never be allowed to work or be near children ever again, and be on a sex offenders register for life. 50,000 Baht & and a transfer... 😂

I dunno how the law works on this considering she is a consenting adult (15+) in Thailand (for non-commercial sex).

But the relationship is definately unprofessional and abuse of power.
