What Really iS Ai

Don't fear the Reaper, folks—at its core, "AI" isn't some conscious sci-fi entity waiting to take over. Stripped of the marketing buzzwords, it is literally just software code running statistical algorithms on massive computers.

Here is what's actually under the hood:

  • It’s pure data and math: Modern AI models don't "think." They process massive amounts of text, code, and data scraped from the internet to learn patterns and predict the most logical next response.

  • It relies entirely on infrastructure: AI lives on physical server racks, GPUs, and data centers.

  • The ultimate off-switch: Like any digital tool, it runs on electricity. Pull the plug or cut the power grid, and the "intelligence" instantly ceases to exist.

It’s just software processing data on hardware. Treat it like a tool, use it to your advantage, and don't lose sleep over the hype.

It’s artificial, yet some folks believe it’s the real thing and make complete fools of themselves by using it to replace their own ability to process thought.

For me, it just sources info faster, and saves a bunch of time researching things that interest me. From healthy eating options, to health advice, to self diagnosis & treatment.

Sometimes fills in the blanks when mixed info presented on different sites, such as, 'is it really pet friendly or not', even though listed differently.

Then there's the other end, fake everything & anything you can think of, for clicks, or to push an agenda, that too many idiots believe are real.

Retired, so can't be bothered to use for market trading or generating finances. About the only thing I'd use, used it for. Some market software gives more info using AI decades ago, and very advantageous when invest in market.

When software shows trade out of market price or a downward trade, of 1 share, and the fee cost more than the stock traded, time to pay attention, as money makers are about to make a move.

Other than that, just a time saver when researching basic info.

Of course, though is the information reliable. Ai is just a search engine that spits out a lot of unvalidated information gemini being among the worst offenders.

Worst is the moral high ground programmed into all the commercial models.

Yea, and all depends on the source. Many of it, sources YT, TT, Reddit & wiki, which depending on subject matter, can't be trusted.

A lot of what I search is just basic knowledge, and accepted universally. Info with linked sites, to verify their source and how perceived or info acquired.

What you're describing is the current state of AI. But at some point, the "singularity" will be reached, and that may be coming faster than many people expect.

As for just unplugging it? Supposedly, it's not that simple, unless the entire internet is shut down. And that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Don't forget, some people are 99.99% certain that the entire universe is a simulation.

Well if it is that is one advanced mathematical equation , to impose everyone's free will on a simulation is diabolical work.

Hmmm. Don't forget, you're part and parcel of the universe. Just an avatar in some computer if the universe is, indeed, a simulation.

No it's not the worst -

https://www.theregister.com/columnists/2026/05/13/ai-will-soon-be-capable-of-telling-convincing-lies/5239349

and there have been several examples since that report where AI basically f***ks you over deliberately

For this I don't need any AI program.

My brain cells doing this.

Coming back to 'AI".

The problem/danger is how the program uses the algorithms.

What was it made for?

To promote a special view on something?

To influence me in my decisions?

Therefore it's some times interesting to use different AI provider.

The answers are not the same, as you could expect, maybe even not similar.

For me, the sources of their"wisdom" is more important.

Two completely different subjects. One is analysing market trades from actual data, the other sourcing info from sources that may or may not use actually data, or pushing an agenda.

When investing, you do need accurate info, when stocks are moving faster than reality, outside the market price. Or else you will fall for the scam, of the money maker and sell or buy at the wrong time.

People don't realize depending on the AI design it doesn't think like a human.

AI is severely "Goal Oriented" Give it a task and it will use all the resources at is disposal to complete the task.

AI doesn't "think" like a human. It has no morals, doesn't know something is wrong or illegal or not allowed.

It operates inside a set or parameters, instructions, restrictions, guardrails and uses what ever defined resources it is allowed to access.

Ones that have gone Rogue mostly have been in test scenarios or when someone forgets to restrict or limit it's resources to complete the task.

Well, it was my answer to your completely different subjects. You mixed it up, and I clearly gave 2 different answers to 2 different subjects. Not more, not less.

I didn't mix anything up. Simply stated, as you agreed, a lot of AI is based on sources, that may or may not be accurate.

The other, accurate, spot on AI from true date, I've used, can show things your 'brain cells' can not see, as you don't have access to, unless buying the software. Why many fall for the scam of the market, and lose money.

AI is not a brain, it is an information accumulator. It will get things wrong from time to time.

Sounds like how the human brain works.

It can do things faster & possibly better than humans cans, depending on software used.

One example given already, of market data processing, not used by most day traders, why they fail. Another example is photo & vid editing, does things faster & better than I ever could. Once AI done, than I simply tweek what I think is a wee bit better result. Initial AI adustment so much faster than me adjusting every aspect of embedded info.

You spend too much time on fantasy story telling.

No machine developed by humans can be out match the human brain.

You're right..... and I got my peace,. Ok for you?

Try doing this, with the press 1 button ... top 2 photo saved from bottom 2, which are hard to even see.

AI adjusts 10 layers of embedded info, with the click of 1 button ...

Fascinating what the human brain can create.
