Israeli minister demands UK hand Falklands to Argentina

An Israeli government minister has called on Britain to “end the occupation” of the Falkland Islands and hand the territory back to Argentina.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir branded the islands “Argentine territory under occupation” and urged Israel to impose sanctions on Britain — just hours before the UK was expected to announce new trade restrictions on Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Ben-Gvir launches extraordinary attack on Britain

Ben-Gvir called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to recognise Argentina’s sovereignty over the Falklands, accusing Britain of “violently” occupying the islands and profiting from oil drilling.

He said Israel should impose sanctions on the UK “as long as the occupation continues”, escalating an already bitter diplomatic dispute over Britain’s planned action against goods produced in West Bank settlements.

Falklands row drags 1982 conflict back into spotlight

The Falklands are a British Overseas Territory, although Argentina has long disputed British sovereignty. The dispute erupted into war in 1982, with the 74-day conflict ending in an Argentine surrender.

Ben-Gvir’s intervention follows Donald Trump’s claim that Washington will “re-evaluate” its position on the islands. The US historically recognised Britain’s claim and provided military support during the 1982 conflict.

Britain faces pressure on Israel sanctions

The confrontation comes as Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband prepares to outline new trade restrictions targeting goods from Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The measures have already triggered threats of retaliation from Israeli officials as the UK seeks to reset relations under Prime Minister Andy Burnham.

Experts warn sanctions could carry wider risks

Jonathan Hall KC, the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, warned that deteriorating relations with Israel could affect international intelligence cooperation, particularly over Iran.

But he also acknowledged that some settler violence could amount to terrorism. Hall warned ministers must also consider the potential impact on Britain’s Jewish communities, amid fears that worsening tensions could increase hostility and leave communities feeling targeted.

As soon as Israel gives back all the land they stole. Israel has expand ~33% beyond the 1949 agreement. Not even counting their occupation of Gaza.

... "AI Overview

Israel's internationally recognized sovereign territory covered approximately 20,700 to 21,000 square kilometers following the 1949 Armistice Agreements, whereas today its effective control spans roughly 27,000 to 28,000 square kilometers when including East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights." ...

The fool is playing tit for tat, using the arguments the UK has used to support its positions on Israel. It has kicked off now that the UK has sanctioned the cultists who are causing problems in the west bank area of Judea. He thinks he is so clever, but he is not. He is still an ignorant, petty thug, devoid of common sense and oblivious to the harm he has done to Israel. He is a national embarrassment, popular only with the small group who hold the balance of power in the dysfunctional Israeli government. Hopefully, he will be gone after the coming Israeli election.

The man is an idiot and without morals. Sure, he is supporting the leader of Argentina who has been a supporter of Israel, but he has ignored the hatred that existed in Argentian during the previous administrations. He is cosying up to the country where World War II criminals found a welcoming refuge and who built the diabolical despotic state apparatus that murdered and torured Argentinians.

The 1949 Agreement ..

This was a case of a binding signed contract

......being the start of negotiations !

Screw the UK

I support the two-state solution.
