Pattaya court sets first hearing for Australian murder suspect

Featured Replies

Pattaya prosecutors have formally filed four charges against Australian national Simon Carman, 45, over the death of 17-year-old Thanyachanok Donhomla, known as Nong Cake.

Carman was transferred with the prosecution case file to Pattaya Provincial Court on Thursday, 17 September 2026. The court has set the first hearing for 9am on Friday, 18 September.

Police said the case concerns the death of Thanyachanok on 26 June 2026. Her body was allegedly placed in a suitcase and left in grass beside a railway line.

Four charges filed in Pattaya

Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyu, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, said the Pattaya Provincial Prosecutor had decided to indict Carman on all four charges.

They are intentional murder; concealing, burying or destroying a body to hide a death or its cause; taking a minor aged over 15 but not more than 18 from her parents, guardian or carer for indecent purposes, even where the minor consented; and taking a person aged over 15 but not more than 18 for indecent purposes, even where that person agreed.

Court appoints lawyer for Carman

Pol Col Anek said the court had already arranged legal representation for Carman because the case is regarded as serious and carries potentially heavy penalties.

Carman, an Australian citizen, remains a defendant in the case. The first hearing will be held at Pattaya Provincial Court at 9am on Friday.

Four charges including alleged murder and hiding the poor girl’s body in a suitcase. If the court finds the allegations proven, “pr!ck” would be putting it rather mildly. 🤬

Considering the media interest in this case and the current climate regarding foreigners in Thailand this guy is going to be made to pay.

They are intentional murder;

My guess will be the court appointed attorney will try to have that charge reduced as the murder was not pre-meditated.

I don't need AI for anything besides to prove a point. There has been newscasts for quite a long time and only the person who commits crimes knows for sure why.

All I said is that it would seem likely to me that an attorney woold try to get a lesser charge.

Along with "as the murder was not premeditated", which it might have been, no one knowing this criminal.
