UK Bank verification, Giff Gaff

Featured Replies

Hi, have been using Giff Gaff for a uk investment/bank verification sms while living here for several years. It seems they are cracking down on the likes of me who are not complying with their UK "fair usage" criteria and closing the account/number. I still have a UK address and bank account, has anyone had an experience with this and is there another way to keep a UK phone number to use specifically for the occasional finacial verification usage? Thanks

Moved to BANKING forum.

I use Giffgaff for similar purposes. Have they actually closed your number or warned you they are going to? I had the disconnect warning earlier this year and resolved it by sending an sms.

OP, 3 options, behave yourself on how yr using it.

2.Get an E-sim, 3, get another Gif'gaf sim/account.

Agreed, usually those notices just want you to either send an sms or top up the account, rather than just sat idle.

No not had any warning/closure but it seems they are clamping down, but maybe just scaremongering, but I just like to be prepared re invested uk funds etc.

Send an sms every 180 days, how difficult is that?

and obviously top up as required

Yes, there does seem to be a number of reports of this occurring more frequently, they also keep your balance also when disconnecting you. Reports of people getting this message....

I use "Three" and have done so since 2016. Just have to send an sms every 5/6 months.

If you violate the TOS, you're breaking a contract.

Any other questions? 😄

Numero. €39.99 a year for a UK number. Works with all financial institutions for OTP via SMS. Also works for What's App in case you don't want to expose your real phone number through the app. Sorted.

I think you've missed the point! Totally aware of how easy it is it's the fact that they are clamping down on such usage, any other useful comments?

If you read the rest of the posts and do some research you'll see I'm far from the only one, have a day off being a donkey!
