Easy residency security backup option if you have about 313k USD

Yes I know this is an expat forum for Thailand, and if not Thailand, elsewhere in Asean, but there may come a time when you still want to live outside the US or Canada, but you want permanent residency elsewhere.

Permanent residence in Asean is mostly not a thing except for the Philippines SRRV visa.

But not everyone is a good fit for the Philippines.

Also the global trend of financial requirements going up of course,

If you have a high pension income you will have a very wide choice.

But it your pension is low such as 1000 to 1500 USD a month the choices are much narrower and the choices tend to shink every year.

I would suggest Panama with only a 1000 USD requirement as the best option to bank a permanent residence but sadly you do need to go there every two years to keep it valid.

Why Mexico is special?

Well if you have about 313K USD in a bank funds or retirement accounts anywhere you can get almost an INSTANT permanent residence after visiting Mexico to activate it ONE TIME.

That money never needs to be sent to Mexico or locked up. it's just a show money deal.

After that, you've banked that permanent residence for life and you never need to visit Mexico again to keep that valid.

Why do this sooner than later?

Because the money needed goes up every year, some years a lot.

People talk about a Plan B plan to Thailand.

Having a permanent residency in your pocket would be a gold standard Plan B.

This is in the US/Canada forum because Mexico is of most interest to Americans and Canadians,
