Close to Tao Poon and Bang Pho stations. I think it lasted about 90-120 seconds and then it extinguished by itself. Nobody was harmed, but I think it caused the entire Skytrain system to be closed down. Not sure if the BTS is back up and running again yet now or not.

It's the MRT Blue line, not BTS.

Apparently it's open except for five stations around there: Bang O, Bang Pho, Tao Poon, Bang Sue and Kamphaeng Phet.

I got on it at Sukhumvit headed the other way (south toward Silom) with no problems and no delays. They warned us of possible delays, and the monitor showed the track shut down around the Chatuchuk weekend market. That was around 13:30.

Since it's a giant circle, I wonder what they do when all the trains pile up where the tracks are closed? I'm sure they have a scheme for that. Just curiosity on my part.

Updates would be appreciated from anyone who's there now. I'm back in my room around Chinatown, and the status may help me decide whether to go out again today. It's a long walk to the BTS. The MRT is much closer.

Thanks. You are correct, MRT, not BTS. There are so many different lines now, I often get confused.

So many other cities in the world simply have one mass transit system. Makes it so much easier.

Straits Times is reporting it only caused delays of around 60 minutes. So possibly everything is running normally again by now.

I saw this posted online about two hours ago, at around 4:30 PM. Take it for what it's worth:

5 MRT stations-Bang O, Bang Pho, Tao Poon, Bang Sue, and Kamphaeng Phet remain closed due to a power failure following a trackside fire between Tao Poon and Bang Pho.

While service has resumed on the rest of the Blue Line, passengers should expect delays of up to 60 minutes.

BEM and authorities are investigating an electrical short circuit suspected in connection with the fire, but no reopening time has been confirmed.

Passengers are advised to allow extra travel time or seek alternative transport.
