The new issue of the British passport has less pages than previous issues - only 24 useable for visa stamps etc.

How many years would a new one last if having to get a visa every 3 months - non imm. o for eg?

If you ask for more pages you will get more pages - but you have to ask (and pay more).

But I still miss the 96 page stiff-covered blue ones - at one time I had three of those bound together with valid visas in. Now we're stuck with these euro-tiddly things and also have to have the biometric data to keep the septics happy.

Used to be that I would walk to the front of the queue and announce 'I'm British' and the whole world kow-towed - except the Aussies, of course. Now I'm better off with travel papers as a refugee.

I am picking up my new 48 page Biometric passport tomorrow - 461 Singapore dollars

The biometric data is just exactly the same as on the readable strip at the bottom of the picture/details page - no iris, thumbprint etc

The Singaporeans can give their thumbprint for quick acess into and out of the country I think now.

They had a sort of credit card check-in when I was working there three years ago - very quick and simple.

But that's for countries that have hi-tech capabilities - not like UK. Every day sliding down nearer to Thirld World status.

The finger print is to get auto access to the US. It gives them favorable access.

It might but it also allows them quick access in and out of the country through a machine rather than a ICA Officer.

I thought the USA was requiring Biometric access and that was one of the reasons the UK issues them but we do not record any information extra to what is on the photo page amd we still get visa free waiver access to the USA (for now at least)

Not true. You can buy a 32 or 48 page UK passport:

Yes but in the 32 page Passport only 25 pages can be used for visas.

Thanks for the confirmation Lee van :o Same pages as a Bulgarian or Romainian passport - or should i say Eupropean, as we are all part of the new third world order.

When you come to think about it maybe thats why the likes of Thailand are tightening their visa laws - they could end up with a mass immigration of ex soviet union nationals. When the social security levels in the UK drop to ex USSR levels then all the <deleted> will head to more sunny climates. Those light skined hookers in Pattaya have the same passports as Brits at the moment.

But the chip you see is really a RFID chip , so not only stores your infomation, it can be read from 15 feet away as you walk up to passort control :o , or any other screening places.

The UKPA do not mention the RFID part, but that information is widely available on the net.

But I have nothing to hide, so do not worry.....

There are only 25 usable pages in the the 32 page passport, 7 Pages are unusable for Visa stamps.

I would imagine there are 41 usable pages in the 48 page passport.

32 page passport = Bt. 8,568.00

48 page passport = Bt. 10,368.00

Child's passport = Bt. 5,472.00
