So I need to cross the border to renew my visa for another 2 months (thanks to the forums I now am assured that is what i need to do). But in late Oct I will be leaving for China for a few days and returning to Bangkok. So my question is:

-Will the china trip renew my visa another two months from the day I leave (meaning I actually lose a month on my visa) because technically I've only used up about a month on my two month visa?

-So would it be more better if I just extended my visa another month?

-If I do extend it, is the process a smoothe one or will the immigration people hassle you and what kind of questions will they ask you?

Pretty much if my visa won't be extended when I leave for China then I'd rather do the visa run.

Hopefully you guys can help me out.

Thanks

A permitted to stay stamp is not extended by exit - it is lost. Upon re-entry you will use the next of your three tourist visa entries.

If you wish to purchase a re-entry permit prior to the China trip you can do so and if you return using that you can continue to use the previous 60 day permitted to stay time (but it does not increase for your time outside the country). IE arrive Sep 15 and permitted to stay until Nov 13 - leave Oct 15-25 - return on 25th and still can stay until Nov 13 and can still extend stay 30 days.

The extension of stay is normally smooth as long as you can provide a tourist type reason.
