Hi All,

My visa extension expires on 24 Th October, when I will have the joys of Bangkok immigration once again.

I have a work permit and I am up to date on all of my paperwork, except my filed accounts.

I am told that a letter will suffice to say that the year is not complete,so therefore their are no accounts as yet.

If this all goes horribly wrong, should I go to Penang ? What will be required,is it just the company documents letter etc, which were required for the first visa or,will I need to show all the past tax payments etc.

I would welcome any up to date advice.

Nick

Here are some links that may be of help to you.

If you are applying at Immigration, you should apply up to 30 days before your current extension/stamp expires. It's best that you call in, they may be able to give you a copy of the list of their interperetation of the requirements. Here is a link to the current police regulations for visa renewal, you will be applying under section 7.1. This will give a pointer as to the required documents. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/2notice/rtp606EN.pdf

If you cannot get a visa extension, then this is the link for Non Immigrant B visa required documents, if you are say applying at Penang.

http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2492 You have a current WP already, so you don't need to worry about the letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour mentioned in this link.

Many Thanks,

That does make it much clearer.

Thanks Nick

Hi Nick,

My situation is slightly different from yours, but since there's not much being written on the forums these days for people with extensions of business visas, I thought I'd add my experience in case it's of help to you.

We just completed a business visa 1 year extension this month. Our company was formed last year, and Immigration did ask for the audited accounts for a partial year last year. My understanding is that they are looking for enough revenue to cover the salaries of the expats employed by the company. We provided the audited accounts for the partial year 2006, and one year extensions were granted. At one point we were told that because we had originally applied for visas and visa extensions before Oct last year, some of the new requirements were "grandfathered" for us, for this year only. I don't know if that applies specifically to the requirement of having full year versus partial year audited accounts or whether it was some other requirement that was grandfathered.

So, if you had a 1 year extension already, then it sounds as if you also were operating for a partial year last year. But if your visa dates from 24 Oct, then it's not clear to me if you'll have the benefit of "grandfathering."

Of course, it seems that all this is up for some interpretation by Immigration and the rules seem to be constantly changing, so our situation may not reflect what you'll experience.

Good luck! Misty
