If it is jewellery, I don't think there would be any law about "wearing" it out of the country or "wearing" it into the next country.

I bought a 5B chain & wore it in and out of many countries & was never questioned about it.

I was a U.S. Customs Inspector for 8 years.

Yes it is legal to bring gold into the U.S. You just need to declare it on the customs form.

In the 90s gold was free of duty from Thailand. If Thailand is no longer on the General Systems of Preference list (GSP) then the duty you will have to pay depends on the value. If you get caught not declaring in you could end up paying 3x to 5x as much
