I think you'll find that he came from a reasonably wealthy family, who were the owners of the 1.2 million pound farmhouse, they also sent him to private boarding school as a child. So, it seems the guy was overcome by mental issues. He had a number of failed businesses in Thailand and the UK. He is now in a secure mental institution. However, he did in fact sponge off his parents regularly, he moved his wife and kids in with them, and felt entitled. He got them to re-mortgage their house to give him 240K to resolve visa issues for his wife.
