October 26, 200718 yr I can think of an orange coloured building not far from the Thai-Laos Friendship bridge where I hope a fireball will land.
October 27, 200718 yr I can think of an orange coloured building not far from the Thai-Laos Friendship bridge where I hope a fireball will land. The fireballs only go up and disappear.Perhaps a (stray) mortar round from Lao?
October 27, 200718 yr Seriously though, my daughter is up there with her aunty. Last night there were no fireballs at all, and tonight there were only three. At least in the stretch of the Mekhong river that my daughter was watching. My daughter, her aunt and uncle are sleeping in a local temple along with hundreds of other people. Not mortars, but tracer bullets from Laos have been suggested in the past. It's a very lucrative business for Nong Khai with thousands of visitors filling the hotels and restaurants for a couple of days.
October 27, 200718 yr Not mortars, but tracer bullets from Laos have been suggested in the past. When I visited the event, four years ago, I witnessed about 20 fireballs. Tracer bullets don't produce luminous balls which "float" upwards, with a perfect sphere up to a half-meter in diameter. That's the most far-fetched explanation I've heard yet. (Well except for the Naga story itself). :-)
